David Ryall was born on January 5, 1935 in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, England as David John Ryall. He was an actor, known for City of Ember (2008), Around the World in 80 Days (2004) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010). He was married to Penny England, Cathy Buchwald and Gillian Eddison. He died on December 25, 2014 in England.

He has played British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in three unrelated productions: Two Men Went to War (2002), Bertie and Elizabeth (2002) and De Gaulle (2006).
He received a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1962.
He joined Laurence Olivier's company with the National Theatre. His work there included Guys and Dolls, The Beggar's Opera, Coriolanus, The School of Wives, Democracy and The UN Inspector.
Began with the National Theatre in 1965 and stayed for eight seasons. Joined the RSC in the late 1990's.
