He later worked for Marco Engineering (with C. V. Wood, Jr., Disneyland's first General Manager) and designed Freedomland, one of the first theme parks to follow Disneyland. Through his MGM experience, Rubottom knew art director Randall Duell who formed an architectural practice that perfected the theme park formula.
