Is it really already awards season? You bet your ballot it is. Today, the Critics' Choice nominations were announced, and all the usual suspects are in the running for Best Picture, including Hugo, The Tree of Life, War Horse, and The Descendants. A few dark horses also garnered noms, including the polarizing Drive and Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris, which really hasn't had much presence yet this award season.
The Critics' Choice Movie Awards winners will be announced live on VH1 on January 12th, and Reelz will be there on the red carpet with live coverage from the Hollywood Palladium with hosts Sam Rubin and Jessica Holmes starting at 6pm Et and 3pm Pt.

At first, Disney's adaptation of The Lone Ranger seemed to be going swimmingly. Armie Hammer was cast in May to star in the title role alongside Johnny Depp as Tonto, the Lone Ranger's sidekick, and, weeks later, Disney gave the movie a prime release date of December 21, 2012. Then, just as more actors were being added to the movie's cast, Disney shut down production after the studio balked at the movie's $250 million (and growing) price tag.
Depp recently admitted that the budget bargaining was part of the plan, and, in an interview with THR, producer Jerry Bruckheimer explained why the delay wasn't the biggest surprise.
Next Showing: The Lone Ranger opens on May 31, 2013

A man knocked hard by job loss and worried about his economic fate — not exactly a premise that seems relatable to an A-list actor like Tom Hanks. Turns out, it is. As Hanks tells Hollywood Uncensored host Sam Rubin, after the cancellation of his TV show Bosom Buddies, he was an unemployed actor with a family to support. There were a few guest roles here and there, including one on Happy Days, but nothing solid on the horizon... Until, as he puts it, he got the lead role in "Opie Cunningham's movie" (Splash).
That experience was part of the reason he signed on to produce as well as star in this week's Larry Crowne — a "small, personal" movie it wasn't easy to find backing for. For more of Hanks' conversation about Larry Crown, including how he recruited Julia Roberts to star in the movie, and his take on press junkets »

As is my wont, I usually start my morning watching the local Ktla news where entertainment reporter Sam Rubin takes command of our collective attention while we finish the last of our Cheerios, or light up the first cigar of the day -- or both. As Sam frequently does, he segued this morning between the usual Hollywood news to a more “social commentary,” this time reporting on the response of an entertainment exec that he called "an idiot" the previous day. An idiot he was. This douchebag characterized Charlie Sheen as »
"We have become some sort of receptacle for all the ass-wipes from around the world to land on stage and bother our good people." - Adam Carolla "I've never heard of this ass, what's the big deal?" - Adam Carolla The Reflection in the mirror water cooler buzz segment hosted by Ktla's Sam Rubin, and his guest Adam Carolla, was smoking hot as they dissected the hubris of Piers Morgan. As well as several other topics from intentional wardrobe malfunctions to whom she believes to be the last real movie star, Berry also spoke about the effect her Oscar win had on her career—and it might not be what you expect. Berry says her Best Actress nod which she received from the Academy in 2001 for her portrayal of Leticia Musgrove in Monster's Ball didn't give her career the boost one might expect.
