Bimal Roy (I) (1909–1966)


Came from a well-to-do Dacca background, starting in films as an assistant cameraman in 1932. After promotion to full cinematographer, he began to direct from 1943. He was first acclaimed for the experimental low-budget picture, "Udayer Pathey", which achieved national popularity in India despite a cast of unknowns. See more trivia »
