Law & Order: UK: Cancelled; No Season Nine -- For Now

ITV in the UK has announced that Law & Order: UK is ending after eight seasons. The final installment aired on June 11th overseas but season eight has yet to air on BBC America.

Created by Dick Wolf, Law & Order: UK began in 2009 and episodes were based on early episodes of the original Law & Order series. The cast includes Bradley Walsh, Ben Bailey Smith, Peter Davison, Georgia Taylor and Dominic Rowan.

"There may well come a time when we re-visit Law & Order: UK," said ITV's Director of Drama Commissioning Steve November. "For the moment we’ll be resting the series whilst we continue to refresh our drama slate."

In the Digital Spy exclusive clip, Smith reveals how it felt to join the ITV crime hit as new DS Joe Hawkins.

The actor, rapper and comic - who also goes by the alias 'Doc Brown' - talks Joe's past and his dynamic with Bradley Walsh's veteran cop Ronnie Brooks.

ITV has debuted a first-look trailer for the new series of Law & Order: UK.

The promo focuses on the introduction of new recruit DS Joe Hawkins, played by Ben Bailey Smith.

Smith (Hunted, Derek) replaces Paul Nicholls, who played DS Sam Casey on the crime drama.

The actor - also known as rapper Doc Brown - appears opposite Law & Order: UK veteran Bradley Walsh (DS Ronnie Brooks) in the promo.

Peter Davison, Georgia Taylor, Paterson Joseph and Dominic Rowan will all reprise their roles for the latest eight-episode run.
