Will humanity find a new home? Back in the early 1960s, the American public had no idea how close our country came to nuclear war with Russia. But President John F. Kennedy certainly knew the score. What if he was so freaked by the potential annihilation of mankind that he gave the order to send our best and brightest on a lifeboat into space? That's the outlandish — yet surprisingly fact-based — premise of Ascension, a three-night Syfy miniseries starring Brian Van Holt (The Bridge), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica), and Andrea Roth (Rescue Me).

Space exploration in a hot topic in Hollywood right now. Especially with Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar currently out in theaters. The SyFy Channel has a miniseries coming out called Ascension, which tells the story of a group of people who leave earth in 1963 to find a new planet that can be populated with people. The series picks up fifty years later. It definitely seems like it has basically plot idea from Interstellar, only it’s not told on such a grand scale. We’ve got two trailers for the series, as well as a detailed press release that offers up some more details on the story and who stars in the series:
In 1963, the U.S. government launched a covert space mission sending hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship Ascension to populate a new world. Nearly 50 years into the journey, as they approach the point of no return, »

Killer Women came and went pretty fast, but Tricia Helfer’s got another series on the way and it looks far more promising. Ascension is a six-hour mini-series that goes down on a starship carrying 600 people on a mission to save the human race by populating a new world. Helfer plays Viondra Denniger, a beautiful but manipulative power broker aboard the starship Ascension. The show’s very first trailer just dropped and even though the piece is only 30 seconds long, it still offers up a fairly comprehensive sense of the Ascension’s mission as well as an effective tease of what sends it into chaos. Hit the jump to check out the Ascension trailer for yourself. The mini-series debuts on Syfy on November 24th at 9/8c and also stars Brian Van Holt, Andrea Roth, Brandon P. Bell, Tiffany Lonsdale and Pj Boudousque. Via EW. Here’s the official synopsis for Ascension: In 1963, the U. »

Get ready to jump the shark… again!
Syfy on Wednesday released the first full-length trailer for Sharknado 2: The Second One — premiering July 31 at 9/8c — and it’s full of everything you’d expect: vicious sharks attacks, melodious shrieks from Tara Reid (my favorite arrives at the 0:38 mark) and, of course, the perfect amount of self-awareness.
“Ah, f—k it. Who are we kidding?” asks the announcer, following his attempt to hail the disastrous sequel as some sort of cinematic masterpiece.

Now that Dominion‘s Alex has set out into the big, bad world, he’s really going to need his guardian archangel, Michael. After all, you aren’t really a Chosen One if nobody’s trying to kill you.
Tom Wisdom, who plays Michael, explains that because Gabriel is aware of Alex’s status, it’s only a matter of time before the rival angel comes after him.
How far will Michael go to protect his charge? Below, Wisdom answers that question, previews tonight’s episode (Syfy, 9/8c), and more. »
New Yorkers riding the subway have long been advised to say something if they see something — but what if that something is a massive shark infestation/flash flood combo platter? You pray Ian Ziering is in your car, natch.
Lucky for the straphangers featured in the following exclusive clip from Sharknado 2: The Second One, the 90210 alum-turned-fish fighter is on hand and ready to do battle with the toothy terrorists. But before all hell breaks lose, Ziering’s Fin tends to some painful exposition unfinished business with his brother-in-law Martin (played by co-star Mark McGrath).
