Despite being paired with Game of Thrones, HBO's biggest series, the ratings for the first season of Silicon Valley weren't very impressive. Will the ratings improve for season two? Will this show be cancelled or renewed for a third season? We'll have to wait and see.

Co-created by Mike Judge, Silicon Valley follows the lives of a group of developers who live together and chase success in Northern California. The cast includes Thomas Middleditch, T. J. Miller, Josh Brener, Martin Starr, Kumail Nanjiani, Zach Woods, Amanda Crew, Matt Ross, Jimmy O. Yang, and Suzanne Cryer.

Silicon Valley Recap: “Runaway Devaluation”

20 April 2015 8:41 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

"Runaway Devaluation," the second episode of Silicon Valley's second season, with a meeting between Richard Hendriks (Thomas Middleditch) finally sitting down to a one-on-one conversation with Galvin Benson (Matt Ross), the all-powerful CEO behind Hooli and Pied Piper competitor Nucleus. The lawsuit that Benson filed against Pied Piper at the end of "Sand Hill Shuffle" has caused a slew of investors, including Riviga Capital, to flee from Richard's company, a ploy that the Hooli head utilizes to attempt to absorb Pied Piper at his meeting with Richard, which takes place at a Mexican restaurant. When they sit down, Gavin is huddled in a dim booth, and its clear that he's brought his own food into the establishment. It's a telling detail about how Belson thinks, specifically his theory that being progressive and having good intentions gives him the unfettered freedom to ignore other business practices. HBO Renews Veep And Silicon Valley

13 April 2015 2:30 PM, PDT | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

HBO wastes no time renewing shows again, and this time, Veep gets a fifth season and Silicon Valley gets a third.

We’re no strangers to HBO‘s policy of sticking with shows, even when it would seem there can hardly be much information to go on, so this is no surprise, but the case of Silicon Valley is noteworthy.

While Veep has had a long history of popularity already, and moreover a lot of critical acclaim, Silicon Valley screamed out of the gates with the first season, but was the focus of a bit of backlash during the off season.

Current fan, or not, I know there are a lot of viewers these days who love to hear that a show has been renewed as soon as possible, because they feel better about investing in it.

Let me know what you think? Are you a fan? Is it a »

'Silicon Valley' Boss on Gender Criticism, Steve Jobs Inspiration and Season 2 Challenges

10 April 2015 12:00 PM, PDT | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

HBO’s tech spoof Silicon Valley returns Sunday for another round. The sophomore comedy, which follows the fictional data compression start-up Pied Piper, picks up after Richard (Thomas Middleditch) and his fellow quirky programmers won Tech Crunch Disrupt and a life-sized $50,000 check. Of course, that’s nothing compared to the money all the venture capital firms are offering them now that they’re the hottest start-up in town. But it won’t be a smooth ride for the gang as Gavin Belson (Matt Ross) and his tech giant Hooli are intent on squashing Pied Piper straight out of the gate.

Viggo Mortensen on ‘Jauja,’ Producing, Protecting Directors’ Visions

8 April 2015 10:00 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Viggo Mortensen received a career tribute at Morocco’s Marrakech Film Fest after receiving a similar trib at Argentina’s Mar del Plata two weeks earlier. Lisandro Alonso’s “Jauja,” starring Mortensen, is now a highlight at the 4th Panama Festival.

In “Lord of the Rings,” he protected the Shire and the Fellowship of the Ring. These days, Mortensen is more likely protecting the original visions of some of the world’s most exciting – and challenging – young moviemakers, and bringing them to larger audiences.

Doing so, Mortensen, U.S. born, Argentina raised, New York-bred, of Danish descent, has leveraged wisely his star status and fanboy suzerainties, dazzled with his dominance of not only English and Spanish, but Danish, Amish and Lakota, and played some not exactly super-hero roles, characters who are ineffectual (Lisandro Alonso’s “Jauja,” a Cannes winner), conflicted (David Oelhoffen’s “Far From Men,“ a Venice prize winner »

Mike Judge’s critically acclaimed tech comedy Silicon Valley is back for a second season. Season one ended with the success in Silicon Valley‘s “live-in start up business incubator,” as Pied Piper triumphed at TechCrunch Disrupt once Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch) wrote some inspired last minute code to help their compression algorithm outperform the rival Nucleus software owned by the company Hendricks and Donald “Jared” Dunn used to work for.

HBO has now released a trailer for the new season. This season begins with the CEO of Hooli and the Nucleus project, Gavin Belson (Matt Ross), preparing his company for a showdown with Hendricks, an ex-employee. The Pied Piper crew are also shown tooling up for their business battle. Actor Chris Diamantopoulos (Arrested Development‘s Marky Bark) plays an over-tanned, designer clothes wearing, sports car driving, investor who hopes to “Get Pied Piper out there” through “Brand awareness” and “Synergy, »

I’m a fan of The Big Bang Theory and I always will be, but the criticism it often gets for mocking “nerds” is something hard to defend it from, because a lot of the humour is obviously doing just that.  What we need is a comedy with a little more intelligence where it’s not just about the geeks being awkward around women, but actually smartly satirises a culture that is now seen as the new “cool”.  Step forward Alec Berg and Mike Judge’s Silicon Valley: The Complete First Season.

Silicon Valley is the heart of the gold rush in the technological world.  Everybody dreams of having that startup company that will make them the next Facebook, Google or Twitter (but hopefully not Myspace).  When »
