The Week in Spandex - The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers, Ghost Rider, Chronicle and more

18 December 2011 11:55 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Presenting our weekly round-up of all the biggest news stories from the world of movie superheroes…

Anticipation for The Dark Knight Rises went into overdrive this past week with the build up to the release of the six-minute IMAX prologue and new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Batman swansong, both of which generated huge amounts of excitement off the back of poor quality bootlegs that were quick to spring up online (and even quicker to disappear, thanks to Warner Bros.’ legal team). As I’m sure you know, the prologue is being shown before select IMAX screenings of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, while the trailer accompanies Sherlock Holmes 2 (well, in North America, at least). We’ll refrain from going into too much detail here to avoid any spoilers for those who haven’t had the chance to catch them, save to say that the trailer features all of the »

'Justice League: Doom' Gets February 2012 Release

13 December 2011 8:09 AM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

"Justice League" fans, prepare to meet your "Doom."

Warner Bros. Home Video have announced that "Justice League: Doom," the next movie in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies line that already includes hits like "Batman: Year One" and "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse," is arriving in a variety of formats (including Blu-Ray, On Demand and for Download) on February 28, 2012.

Based on the "Tower of Babel" storyline from Mark Waid's "Jla" run, "Doom" finds your favorite DC Comics heroes — Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and Cyborg — reeling from an assault when a team of their worst enemies discovers the Dark Knight's "contingency plan" for stopping rogue Justice League members and puts the plan into action. Needless to say, bad things ensue. "Doom" is the final DC Universe film script from the late Dwayne McDuffie, who passed away suddenly earlier this year.
