What’s an impressive ride without a badass driver behind the wheel?
One week on from introducing fans to his hulking Ice Ram, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has taken to Instagram to share an appropriately cool action shot of Hobbs, the equally muscular ally that will appear in next year’s Fast 8 as you’ve never seen him before.
That’s because, four movies into his stint aboard Universal’s Fast and Furious juggernaut, Johnson is aiming to bring Hobbs back to his murky roots. Exactly how that will play out in Fast 8 remains to be seen, but it would seem that the wrestler-turned-movie star is set for a larger chunk of screentime in Universal’s 2017 tentpole.
As Johnson sums up so succinctly: “The Iceman cometh. And I don’t f—eth around.”

Last week, Fast and Furious 8 took fans behind-the-scenes with a new Fast Fridays video that showcased several of the powerful and exotic cars used in the movie. Ever since production started on this high-octane sequel, the production has been giving fans sneak peeks at the sets and the cast as part of their #FastFridays tradition. Instead of a new video, though, today we get five new photos that feature some of the cars driven by main characters during the scenes set in Iceland.
We've previously seen some of these cars in a Fast Fridays video from Iceland earlier this month, but we didn't know who any of these cars belonged to. These new photos, which were posted on the franchise's Facebook, reveal that Dom (Vin Diesel) will be driving a bullet-riddled Dodge Charger, while Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) drives a Rally Fighter, Tej (Ludacris) rolls in a tank-like vehicle known as a Ripsaw, »

Original Story: Let it be known that Luke Hobbs, the musclebound law enforcer played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, will stop at nothing to save the world.
In his latest Instagram post, Johnson unveils his monstrous new ice truck that will be storming onto the scene in Fast 8 – specifically, during the sequel’s barnstorming action sequence that was captured in the remote Icelandic town of Akranes. Last year, just before Furious 7 hit theaters, Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren revealed that it was her "great ambition" to star in a Fast & Furious movie as a "mad driver." The actress added in that interview that she kept "putting it out there" that she wants to be a part of the franchise, but the filmmakers never responded. It seems her persistence has paid off, with the actress confirming that she will in fact star in Fast and Furious 8.
While promoting her new movie Eye in the Sky, which recently arrived on Blu-ray and DVD, the actress confirmed that she's "about to do" Fast & Furious 8 in an interview with Elle. Unfortunately, she wouldn't shed too much light on her character, but the actress did add that she'd only be a part of the sequel under one condition. Here's what she had to say below.
"Well, yes. I've always rather loved driving. I said, 'I'll be in it, but only if I'm allowed to drive if I do drive in it.' But we'll see. We'll see how it transpires. Film is a wonderful thing and it can be so many different things. I don't want to turn my back on any of the different ways movies can be. I love the movies. I love going to the films. I like very serious films, I love foreign films, and I love big, fun movies-as long as they're well made and they've got good scripts. That's the most important thing."
Last year, after Helen Mirren's remarks about the franchise, Vin Diesel himself teased that "she's on the list," adding, "Be careful what you wish for, Helen." Production has been under way since last month, although it isn't known how long principal photography is expected to last. We'll have to wait and see if more details about who she's playing will surface as filming continues.
Helen Mirren joins a cast that includes Fast & Furious franchise stars Vin Diese, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Lucas Black and Kurt Russell. Charlize Theron has come aboard to play the new villain Cipher, with other new casting additions including Scott Eastwood and Kristofer Hivju. F. Gary Gray is directing from a script by Chris Morgan, with Universal setting an April 14, 2017 release date. Stay tuned for more on Helen Mirren's casting in Fast and Furious 8 as more details unfold. »
I think we can count on Fast 8 delivering the usual thrills we've come to expect from the franchise, but this new installment is quickly becoming even more enticing with the ensemble cast being assembled. Of course, Vin Diesel is back along with Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, Kurt Russell and Jason Statham, but we also have Charlize Theron as the villain, Game of Thrones' Kristofer... I am overjoyed to be writing this next sentence. Academy Award winner Dame Helen Mirren has just joined the cast of Fast 8. Yes. Really! My god. Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron together at last. How will one screen be able to handle such awesome woman power? Mirren, who recently joined the Winchester Mystery House thrilled, broke the news to Elle Magazine while promoting her next film. They wrote: Next up: Mirren will head into the Fast and Furious franchise, joining Vin Diesel and crew for the eighth film in the series, out in 2017. While both the actress and Diesel have teased her involvement, reportedly as the movie's villain, Mirren exclusively confirmed her casting to us as she discussed her career and what she learned from making Eye In The Sky. Eye in the Sky is a military-themed thriller focusing on drone strikes, but Mirren is no stranger to action. She starred in 2010's Red and its sequel Red 2. "I like [film] to be serious. Of course, having said that I'm about to do Fast and Furious 8. But that's for the fun of it," she told Elle. "So maybe that's what I want as well, some fun and some relevant, serious, important movies." Considering the role automobiles play in the franchise, Elle asked her if she was a fan of cars: Well, yes. I like very serious films, I love foreign films, and I love big, fun movies–as long as they're well made and they've got good scripts. That's the most important thing. Yes. Good. This time around the film is being directed by F. Gary Gray and set for an April 14, 2017 release. Scott Eastwood and Kristofer Hivju (aka Tormund from Game of Thrones) recently joined the cast which reportedly includes Vin Diesel, Kurt Russell, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Lucas Black, Ruby Rose, Jason Statham, Eva Mendes, Ronda Rousey, and Joanna J?drzejczyk. The ninth and tenth installments of the franchise have already been announced and given release dates. »

A dream of actress Helen Mirren has now been fulfilled a year after confessing her 'great ambition'. Yes, the dame herself is set to be a part of the cast of the currently filming eighth "Fast and Furious" movie.
Mirren confirmed the casting to Elle, saying: "I'm about to do Fast and Furious 8. I've always rather loved driving. I said, 'I'll be in it, but only if I'm allowed to drive if I do drive in it.' But we'll see. We'll see how it transpires."
There's no further details at this time about Mirren's role and how substantial it will be. Mirren went on the record about her love for the franchise and its star Vin Diesel.
Mirren joins a sprawling cast that also includes Charlize Theron, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Scott Eastwood, and Kristofer Hivju. The film opens April 14th 2017. »

Well, this is somewhat surprising. In a recent interview with Elle, Helen Mirren has confirmed that she’s finally been able to accomplish one of her many goals: starring in a Fast and Furious movie. An odd goal for the actress, to be sure, but one that’s now been realized as Mirren has been added to the cast of Fast 8.
“I’m about to do Fast and Furious 8,” she told the magazine. “I’ve always rather loved driving. I said, ‘I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive if I do drive in it.’ But we’ll see. We’ll see how it transpires.”
Mirren wouldn’t reveal whether or not her role here will simply be a cameo, or something more sizeable, but there you have it – she’s definitely in the film. And let’s be honest, no matter what kind of part she ends up having in Fast 8, it’s going to be awesome seeing her on screen. I mean, it’s Helen Mirren in a Fast and Furious movie, who wouldn’t pay to see that?
Joining a massive cast that already includes Charlize Theron, Kurt Russell, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Scott Eastwood and Kristofer Hivju, Helen Mirren will roar into theatres alongside Fast 8 on April 14, 2017.
Tell us, what kind of role do you think the iconic actress will end up taking on in the film? A cameo part, or something more substantial? »
