Defiance: Season Three Ratings

16 October 2015 8:30 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Last year, the second season of Defiance was way down in the ratings. How will the series perform in season three -- will the numbers get better or fall lower? Will this Syfy series be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned.

Defiance takes place in the year 2047 -- some 30 years after various alien races arrived on Earth. The town of Defiance (what used to be St. Louis) stands as an example of how humans and aliens can live harmoniously (mostly) together. The cast includes Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Jaime Murray, Tony Curran, Graham Greene, Jesse Rath, Trenna Keating, Anna Hopkins, Nicole Munoz, Lee Tergesen, Conrad Coates, and Nichole Galicia.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will »

Interview: A Post-'Django Unchained' Career Conversation w/ Nichole Galicia (Syfy's 'Defiance')

21 September 2015 7:26 AM, PDT | ShadowAndAct | See recent ShadowAndAct news »

Though Nichole Galicia began her career as a high fashion model strutting across runways around the globe, it was her breakout role in Quentin Tarantino’s 2012 film “Django Unchained” that got everyone buzzing about her. In the film she plays Sheba, the de facto wife of Leonardo DiCaprio’s character Calvin Candie. Most recently Galicia has starred in the Syfy series “Defiance” as Kindzi, a vicious femme fatale alien who is as respected as she is feared. Galicia took the time out of her busy schedule during New York Fashion week to chat with Shadow and Act about Kindzi and “Defiance”, working with Tarantino, and her upcoming project. Thanks so much Ms. Galicia for speaking with me and with »

Defiance season 3 episode 13 review: Upon The March We Fittest Die

1 September 2015 12:20 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Defiance concludes its third season with an effects-heavy episode, but is that the last we'll ever see of the show?

This review contains spoilers.

3.13 Upon The March We Fittest Die

What I can say with some certainty was that the effects budget for the entire show was mostly blown on this episode, in what I generally take to be its conclusion. It’s not as if the door is slammed shut for a potential return, but Syfy hasn’t yet announced Defiance's fate, and it could end here without too many unresolved aspects.

The title, Upon The March We Fittest Die, comes from American poet Walt Whitman’s poem Pioneers! O Pioneers! about the expansion West, and what a noble endeavour he saw in that. But before we can get to that somewhat tenuous linkage, we still have the Omec to deal with, and their seemingly indestructible leader, all-mother Kindzi. »

Defiance season 3 episodes 1 & 2 review: The World We Seize & The Last Unicorns

16 June 2015 3:34 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Defiance returns for season 3 with an arresting two-part opener, but will it continue to improve on season 2's uninspiring arc?

This review contains spoilers.

3.1 The World We Seize & 3.2 The Last Unicorns

For this TV reviewer, Defiance is very much like a favourite meal that’s been made with the odd ingredient that I really don’t care for. For as much as I like the predominant flavour, picking through the contents impairs the overall culinary experience.

Parts of season 2 certainly left a slightly bad taste in the mouth. While many characters and situations were set up as being massively threatening, such as Pottinger and E-Rep, none delivered even a tenth of their hyped potential. It also suffered from an inclination to try to weave a worlds-collide epic narrative with mostly rather ordinary characters, even if some of them are well formed.

If those behind Defiance consider that their inspiration is largely the Western, »

Defiance's Grant Bowler Previews Season 3's New Foes, Big Deaths: 'TV Has Become a Very Precarious World'

11 June 2015 1:00 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

It is, as Grant Bowler aptly puts it, “a Defiance sandwich” in Season 3, as the beleaguered titular town finds itself caught between two new, lethal foes — one of which wastes no time in thinning the herd.

As the Syfy drama’s new season opens Friday at 8/7c (with a two-hour premiere), TVLine welcomed the opportunity to discuss with the Kiwi actor all that lies ahead, including Irisa’s status as a pulp novel pin-up, Nolan’s big (but welcome!) setback and the several shocking sendoffs.

Defiance Season 3 Adds Lee Tergesen (as a Castithan!), Plus Two Others

2 February 2015 7:00 AM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Oz alum Lee Tergesen has signed up for a major stint on Syfy’s Defiance, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Also boarding Season 3 of the sci-fi drama are Conrad Coates (The Strain, The Dresden Files) and Nichole Galicia (Django Unchained).

Following the events of the Season 2 finale, Defiance picks back up on the eve of an impending military siege upon the titular town, which has fallen on hard times following the collapse of its mines. The citizens face further threat with the surprise arrival of the Omec, a mysterious and nearly extinct alien race of warriors marked by the decades of »
