Filming for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter begins in South Africa next month, and Ali Larter (who was announced to return last month) has confirmed that this will, indeed, be the final chapter of the long-running franchise.
“We are not allowed to say one thing,” she told IGN. “I am held to secrecy, but what I can tell you is that the script is amazing. They’re really wrapping up the whole series, so that just makes it a little more poignant. To be able to come back and reprise my role as Claire and my relationship with Alice, with Umbrella Corp. — you know, I’m excited to get back in it. I think the fans are just going to be beyond excited.”

Claire Redfield is back for more zombie-killing mayhem. Deadline is reporting that Ali Larter (Legends) has officially signed on to reprise her role as Redfield in the final installment of Screen Gems' Resident Evil series, which is tentatively titled Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. As far as fans of the franchise know, her character is currently a prisoner of the evil Umbrella Corporation. The upcoming final chapter is set to kick off production this September in South Africa and also features the returns of director/writer Paul W.S. Anderson and franchise star Milla Jovovich. Others rumored to return include Wentworth Miller, Sienna Guillory, Spencer Locke, Shawn Roberts, Li Bingbing, and Johann Urb. What do you guys think? Who else would you want to see return? Back in August, Resident Evil franchise star Milla Jovovich revealed that production had been delayed on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, because she and her husband/director Paul W.S. Anderson are expecting their second child. She said then that shooting wouldn't happen until the summer of 2015. Now, the actress confirms in a new Facebook post that shooting will begin this August. Here's what she had to say in her post from Tuesday.
"I'm really proud of myself for not gaining the same amount of weight that I did with our first child (75 lbs.) because I have to be ready to start filming Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in August of this year and I will also be nursing an infant simultaneously (get ready wardrobe department for Alice's new 'easy mama access' costume;)) so I don't want to be on any extreme diets to get ready to go back to "action hero" mode! »
