Magic Mike Xxl” star Joe Manganiello found himself asking the questions instead of answering them over the weekend, as the actor led an ArcLight Slamdance Cinema Club Q&A panel on the Steve Yu-directed documentary “Resurrection of Jake the Snake.” Debuting at Slamdance Film Festival in January, the movie examines the life of retired professional wrestler Jake “the Snake” Roberts, who battled substance abuse issues long after his career had ended. Manganiello moderated Sunday’s panel, which included Yu and executive producer Chris Bell (“Bigger Stronger Faster”), and also shared his own thoughts on the intersection of drugs and professional wrestling. »

The high-profile actor (“True Blood,” “Magic Mike”) will lead the Q&A after a screening of “The Resurrection of Jake The Snake,” a documentary that tells the story of professional wrestling legend Jake “The Snake” Roberts, who struggled with drug addiction, financial disaster and depression after his retirement. The Slamdance Film Festival is bringing its edgy, alternative-to-Sundance indie programming from Park City to Los Angeles. Beginning March 2015, the Slamdance Cinema Club will be hosted at the ArcLight Hollywood followed by a filmmaker Q&A, with high-profile guests and moderators expected to attend. Slamdance 2015 titles will have their first, fresh off the fest premieres here. Slamdance, Arclight Cinemas Partnering for Cinema Club

In its first foray into a distribution partnership, the Slamdance Film Festival is teaming with the ArcLight Cinemas theater in Hollywood to screen two films per month from this year’s festival.

The Slamdance Cinema Club will launch in March with screenings and a filmmaker Q&A, with surprise guests and moderators.

The first screening will kick off on March 8 with “The Resurrection of Jake The Snake” from filmmaker Steve Yu. On the following night, Brian James O’Connell’s “Bloodsucking Bastards” will screen, featuring “The Cabin in the Woods” star Fran Kranz.

“ArcLight Cinemas has continued to be a shining light for independent cinema fans looking for a rich cinematic experience and we are thrilled to be partnering with such a visionary company that cares so much about the future of film,” states Slamdance President & Co-Founder Peter Baxter.
