Linus Roache began his acting career with a two-week appearance as a young Barlow on Coronation Street (1960) at the age of 11. He also played a boy with the bubonic plague in The Onedin Line (1971). He spent much of the next two decades on stage. In 1986 he had brief appearances in a few films, including Link (1986). He was brought to attention in 1994 after appearing in the BBC TV series Seaforth (1994).

Son of actors William Roache and the late Anna Cropper (who divorced in 1974); stepson of the late Sara Roache.
Brother of Vanya (born 1967). half-brother of Verity Elizabeth (born 1981), Edwina (born 1982, died 1984), William James (born 1986).
After Priest (1994) and the BBC wartime drama Seaforth (1994), Roache gave up acting and spent 18 months in India, where he discovered spiritual meditation.
Is vegetarian.
Has joined cast of Law & Order (1990) for its 18th season as the new Executive A.D.A., Michael Cutter, to begin airing Jan. 2008. [August 2007]
