Twilight actress Ali Faulkner investigates mystery of The Secret Village

Fans of the Twilight franchise will recall Ali Faulkner as Bianca, a human who delivered a message to vampire lawmakers the Volturi in Breaking Dawn Part 1.
Now she enters another shadowy and sinister world in new film The Secret Village, currently shooting in The Berkshires, Massachusetts.
The Secret Village is a psychological thriller that follows Greg, (Jonathan Bennett) an unsuccessful screenwriter, and Rachel, (Ali Faulkner) a beautiful journalist, as they research an outbreak of mass hysteria in a small village.
They rent a house together and start to uncover a secret about ergot poisoning that has affected this village for years. (For those that don't know, ergot is a toxic fungus that grows on rye and can cause convulsions, hallucinations, delirium, psychosis and other symptoms; it's believed by many to be the scientific explanation for witchcraft).

We've got more casting news from The Secret Village camp. They've added a few impressive names, with films like Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part 1, Starship Troopers and Bridesmaids under their belts.
The Secret Village is directed by Swampy Kandan and produced by Ranganath. Christopher Holmes, who brings experience with films such as Rocky 2, Donnie Brasco and The Patriot is attached as editor. The Secret Village is currently preparing to begin filming in Massachusetts.

Sorry, Leatherface fans. If you were looking forward to checking out The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D this Halloween, you’re now going to have to wait until 2013. Lionsgate has moved the release date from it’s original October 5th spot to January 4th, 2013.
Directed by John Luessenhop, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D stars Alexandra Daddario, Scott Eastwood, Bill Moseley, Tania Raymonde, Trey Songz, Keram Malicki-Sanchez, Shaun Sipos, Thom Barry, Paul Rae, and Richard Riehle. The new movie is not a remake and does not tie into the earlier remake from Platinum Dunes. Instead, this film is being developed as a direct sequel to the storyline from the original 1974 movie.
Taking its place in October is Sinister, a found footage horror film starring Ethan Hawke and Vincent D’Onofrio. Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie also opens on October 5th and Paramount will release Paranormal Activity 4 on October 19th. »

Time to get out your pencils and erasers again, kids. Two films that are high on our radar are doing that ol' release date shuffle with Sinister taking over The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D's newly vacated October 5th slot.
Since it's been awhile since we've heard anything new about The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, it's not a huge surprise it's been pushed back a few months from its original October 2012 date to January 4, 2013. All the better to let things get even more rotten in the state of Texas! Besides, January is proving to be almost as popular for horror films as October anyway.

Synopsis:
A group of sport fishermen and their attractive lady friends go on a fishing trip, but they soon get captured by some murderous watermen and must fight for their lives.
What worse place is there to be stranded than the middle of the ocean? With the boat engine tampered with and the flares missing, the dodgy watermen who filled the tank and sold the group interesting looking bait are of course to blame. The group are starving, deprived of drinking water and desperate. So when a large fishing boat comes along with aid, their desperation clouds their judgement. The water they glug so aggressively is laced with some sort of drug, and the group soon literally hit the deck unconscious.

Extracted, the sci fi thriller Sasha Roiz filmed last year, will have its world premiere at the South By Southwest festival in Austin in March. Filmmaker Magazine has the full SXSW lineup, announced earlier today.
Extracted will be screened in the Emerging Visions section. The date/venue info hasn't been posted yet, but it will probably show up on the film's page on SXSW.com one of these days.
This year, the festival runs from March 9 to 17.
