New Promo for Pixar's Toy Story That Time Forgot

18 November 2014 12:02 PM, PST | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Disney has released a short new promo trailer for Pixar's upcoming holiday special, Toy Story That Time Forgot. I've always enjoyed these little franchise shorts that Pixar and Disney create. They're fun to watch, especially with the kids.

This half-hour TV special focuses on Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang as they encounter a line of reptilian warrior action figures who don’t know they’re action figures.

After a post-Christmas play date, the Toy Story gang finds themselves in uncharted territory when the coolest set of action figures ever turn out to be dangerously delusional. If the gang hopes to return to Bonnie’s room, they’ll have to rely on Trixie the triceratops.

The original cast is back to reprise their roles including Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Kristen Schaal as Trixie, Wallace Shawn as Rex, Timothy Dalton as Mr. Pricklepants, Don Rickles as Mr. »

'Toy Story 4' Is Happening, John Lasseter To Direct

7 November 2014 8:32 AM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

The greatest animated franchise of all time is getting another sequel. Everyone said Toy Story 3 would be the end of Woody and Buzz, but alas, here we are, announcing Toy Story 4. The company's chairman and CEO Bob Iger revealed that John Lasseter, who directed the original, will helm the upcoming film.

Toy Story 4 will be written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, who previously penned and starred in Celeste and Jesse Forever. They're working from a story idea by Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter, and Lee Unkrich! Pixar's Galyn Susman will produce.

Though it hasn't been confirmed yet, our assumption is that the whole gang, from Tom Hanks to Don Rickles to Joan Cusack will return to voice these beloved characters.

Toy Story 3 was a perfect ending to a beloved franchise. Yes, Disney is squeezing this one for more profit, but it's hard to stay mad about news like this. »

First Look at ABC’s New Toy Story Holiday Special

14 October 2014 6:01 PM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Last year, ABC aired Pixar’s first television special with the Halloween-themed Toy Story of Terror! This year, Woody, Buzz, and the gang are back for another holiday special called Toy Story That Time Forgot, which will debut on Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. Et on ABC.

A lot of holiday specials feel forced or really disjointed from the worlds established in the films they’re based on, but Toy Story of Terror! was a really fun and fitting adventure for these characters. I have no doubt that this new special will deliver the goods as well. Here’s the synopsis:

After a post-Christmas play date, the Toy Story gang finds themselves in uncharted territory when the coolest set of action figures ever turn out to be dangerously delusional. If the gang hopes to return to Bonnie’s room, they’ll have to rely on Trixie the triceratops.

New Poster For Toy Story That Time Forgot

14 October 2014 10:32 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

You have probably already have seen the teaser poster that Disney/Pixar released for the companies’ latest Toy Story short, Toy Story That Time Forgot, which arrived online during this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con. To follow that up, Entertainment Weekly has debuted the full poster for the TV special. Looking to build on the strong start from last year’s horror-spoofing Toy Story Of Terror, the new short finds Tom Hanks’ Woody and Tim Allen’s Buzz facing a new problem thanks to Reptillus Maximus (Kevin McKidd). He's the leader of a group of dino-toys our heroes meet and who turn out to be suffering a similar delusion that once afflicted Tim Allen’s Buzz: they think they’re real. And when you have dinosaurs believing they exist, you know there will be trouble, especially for poor triceratops Trixie (Kristen Schaal)...Given how well the Halloween TV special bottled »

Buzz And Woody Face A Dino Crisis In Toy Story That Time Forgot Poster

14 October 2014 10:29 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Four years ago, Disney and Pixar rounded off the Toy Story trilogy in style and gave our beloved band of animated heroes the conclusion they throughly deserved. Given the popularity of the characters, though, it was almost inevitable that the company would be tempted to revisit Woody and Co. for another action-packed adventure further down the line.

Thankfully, that retread produced the acclaimed Halloween-themed TV special, Toy Story of Terror — as opposed to merely cashing in with a wholly unnecessary Toy Story 4. And so, building on the success of last year’s spin-off, the gang is set for another short film in the form of Toy Story That Time Forgot.

Poised to debut on AMC this holiday season, Buzz and Woody’s latest outing sees the pair stumble across a clan of delusional dino-toys led by the wonderfully named Reptillus Maximus. You see, much like the case that afflicted Tim Allen’s budding astronaut, »

Robert De Niro Roasted at Friars Club Gala

8 October 2014 9:53 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

It was not meant to be a roast, but there was certainly some ribbing happening at the Friars Foundation’s annual gala honoring Robert De Niro and Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim on Oct. 7 at the recently sold Waldorf Astoria.

A parade of industryites appeared in-person and via video including David O. Russell, Sharon Stone, Christopher Walken, Martin Scorsese, Orlando Bloom, Billy Crystal, Barbra Streisand and Don Rickles. All paid tribute to thesp, who received the Friars Club’s fifth-ever Icon Award.

Sting, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin also serenaded De Niro and Slim, who took home the Icon Award for Philanthropy. Warren Buffett, in a pre-recorded video alongside Paul Anka, sang a rendition of “My Way” to Slim.

As the event’s emcee, Larry King (Friars’ Dean) attempted to keep the crowd — full of old men and their model/drag queen dates — in check by “shushing” the room several times. »

Bart & Fleming: On Joan Rivers, DreamWorks’ New Pic Boss, And Toronto

7 September 2014 3:59 PM, PDT | Deadline New York | See recent Deadline New York news »

Peter Bart and Mike Fleming Jr. worked together for two decades at Daily Variety. In this occasional column, two old friends get together and grind their axes on the movie business.

Bart: It was Charlie Rose who remarked this week that the death of a Robin Williams or Joan Rivers — people who made us laugh — evokes an especially emotional response from the public (this observation in itself is amusing coming from Charlie, who looks like he’s in pain when he smiles). His point is correct for two reasons: We admire comedians because they can get away with saying anything while the rest of us are suffocated by the rules of political correctness. We both envy and appreciate that freedom.. Secondly, the act of standing in front of an audience to make people laugh is death-defying. We admire comic courage.

Fleming: I never met Rivers and I can see that »
