In 1978, Philip Kaufman's remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers hit theaters. The all-star ensemble cast included Art Hindle, Brooke Adams, Donald Sutherland, Jeff Goldblum, Leonard Nimoy, and Veronica Cartwright. Whatever side of the ongoing remake debate you're on, it's doubtful that you'd call this version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers a bad film. Scream Factory has just released a new Blu-ray edition with cool new art and lots of extras: New 2K Scan Of The Interpositive New Star-Crossed In The Invasion – An Interview With Actress Brooke Adams New Leading The Invasion – An Interview With Actor Art Hindle New Re-Creating The Invasion – An Interview With Writer W.D. Blu-ray Review – Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

2 August 2016 2:45 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Invasion of the Body Snatchers, 1978.

Directed by Philip Kaufman.

Starring Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Leonard Nimoy, Jeff Goldblum and Veronica Cartwright.

Synopsis:

Philip Kaufman’s 1978 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a minor classic that has received a nice Collector’s Edition treatment on Blu-ray by Shout! Factory, who commissioned a new 2K scan of the film, along with some new interviews. They’ve also included the bonus features found on previous North American home video releases.

For some reason, the end of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, with Matthew (Donald Sutherland) and Nancy (Veronica Cartwright) confronting each other, has stuck with me ever since I saw it as a kid. (I’ll avoid spoiling the specifics of the ending in case you haven’t seen the movie.) I’ve also always remembered it as a commentary on the strife of the 1970s, although the bonus features on this new Blu-ray from Shout! »

Get Ready to Be Taken Over When Scream Factory Unleashes Invasion Of The Body Snatchers This August!!

15 June 2016 6:15 AM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

I absolutely Adore body snatcher films. I don’t know what it is about them, but they just do it for me. My favorite film having to do with body snatchers is the aptly titled, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, the 1978 remake of the classic 1956 film of the same name. The remake took concerns and metaphors subtly present in the original film and amplified them, raising the stakes, the social statements and boasted excellent performances from Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Leonard Nimoy, Veronica Cartwright and Jeff Goldblum. It’s just a perfect film, and one that I try to show every friend or house guest who hasn’t seen it. Thanks to the ever-reliable group over at Scream Factory, we’re getting a special Collector’s Edition Bluray release of Philip Kaufman’s 1978 masterpiece, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, complete with enough special features to make the most avid collector blush with excitement.
