Black Dynamite Gets Groovy on DVD and Blu-ray on February 2, 2010

23 November 2009 6:43 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

You can bring home an outrageous blaxploitation film home on DVD and Blu-ray next February. Black Dynamite will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on February 2, 2010. The standard DVD will be priced at $24.96 Srp while the Bd will be priced at $39.95 Srp. We don't have any cover art for theses titles as of yet, but we'll update this story as soon as we have the new images. The film stars Michael Jai White, Byron Minns and Salli Richardson-Whitfield.

An all-star cast led by Michael Jai White is featured in this 1970's-style blaxploitation action film about the legendary super crime fighter Black Dynamite. The Man killed his brother, pumped heroin into local orphanages, and flooded the ghetto with adulterated malt liquor. Black Dynamite was the one hero willing to fight The Man all the way from the blood-soaked city streets to the hallowed halls of the Honky House.

'Black Dynamite': Ghetto Blaster, By Kurt Loder

Welcome back to the badass '70s.

Michael Jai White in "Black Dynamite"

Photo: Apparition

Can Black Dynamite fend off the Man and the Mob and the phalanx of wah-wah guitars arrayed against him and fight his way to the Honky House to mete out kung-fu justice? Most likely!

The new movie "Black Dynamite" is more than just a fond, knowing tribute to '70s blaxploitation films (with echoes of "Enter the Dragon," too). It's a wild action-comedy with a magnetically deadpan star (Michael Jai White, last seen as a snarling hoodlum in "The Dark Knight") and a scholarly attention to genre detail. Not just the usual pimped-out purple fedoras, processed hair and tinted aviator shades, but also the lovable technical defects — the rancid color, the restroom lighting, the shifting commitment to focus. The movie is a celebration of cinematic insufficiency.

I gotta say, I didn’t see it coming, but I’m dying to see Scott Sanders’ blaxploitation parody “Black Dynamite”. Here are some new batch of images from “Black Dynamite” to please you white honky suckas. Black Dynamite: a gun-toting, nunchuck-wielding, ladies man and soul brother. When “The Man” murders his brother, pumps heroin into local orphanages, and floods the ghetto with adulterated malt liquor, Black Dynamite is the one hero willing to fight all the way from the blood-soaked city streets to the hallowed halls of the Honky House. Preview Clips: 'Eureka', 'Warehouse 13' Finales

17 September 2009 10:18 AM, PDT | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

It's changeover time in the television schedules, which means that we have premieres to look forward to and season finales that will tease us for months to come.

In the case of Syfy, the top of the anticipation list includes the second season premiere of Sanctuary and the series premiere of Sgu: Stargate Universe (I've seen it and it's not your father's Stargate, but it's pretty cool). There are also season-ending episodes of Syfy's record breaking hit Warehouse 13 and Eureka and we have video previews of both. Click the Video tabs above to get a taste of what's to come.

Eureka is an offbeat, science fiction comedy-drama that is centered on the residents of a small town in the Pacific Northwest. Shrouded in secrecy, the picturesque hamlet is actually a community of geniuses assembled by the government to conduct top-secret research. What they've unwittingly created is a place where anything imaginable can happen… »

Clip – 4400 Alum Billy Campbell Visits SyFy's Eureka

19 August 2009 11:24 AM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Billy Campbell, who played the charismatic cult leader Jordon Collier on The 4400, will be stopping by Eureka this week.  Campbell will ramp up the romantic tension on Eureka as he hits on Tess, much to Carter's dismay.  Here's a clip from the episode, Eureka 3.15 – Shower The People, which debuts Friday, August 21st at 9/8c on SyFy.

Says SyFy:

Eureka-fied baby gifts for Allison’s (Salli Richardson Whitfield) shower push the envelope of eco-friendly design – and prove deadly when rival scientists are found drowned where drowning is clearly impossible. While Carter (Colin Ferguson) investigates, Tess (Jaime Ray Newman) and Allison welcome Dr. Bruce Manlius (Billy Campbell), who arrives to help investigate the mystery of “Kim.” Carter finds Manlius’ ego — not to mention his flirting with Tess — unsettling.

"Eureka" Gets Surprise Fourth Season Pickup, Birthday Wishes for Colin Ferguson

25 July 2009 8:03 AM, PDT | Televisionary | See recent Televisionary news »

In a move likely to send Eureka fans into a frenzy, Syfy Evp Mark Stern used the Eureka panel at Comic-Con to announce the popular sci-fi series will be getting a 22-episode fourth season pick-up. While an auditorium full of screaming Eureka fans might seem like a perfect venue to make such an announcement, the move appeared to be totally impromptu as it came about after the panel's moderator Josh Gates (host of Syfy unscripted series Destination Truth) playfully decided to phone up star Colin Ferguson in Bulgaria (who is currently there shooting telepic Lake Placid 3 for Syfy). When Gates asked Ferguson if he had anything to say to the assembled crowd, Ferguson replied that he wanted to know if the show was coming back for another season. After some urging from both the crowd and the Eureka panelists in attendance (which included creator Jaime Paglia and cast-members Joe Morton, »

Eureka Spoilers – Remaining Episode Titles, Plus Some Pics

12 July 2009 5:18 PM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

SpoilerGuy here with some Eureka spoilers for you.  Eureka has just returned to the newly minted SyFy channel, and if you are not watching this little show – well, you should be.  Eureka is a staple of the SyFy lineup and was – correct me if I'm wrong – loosely based on the visual themes of a group of commercials created for the network in 2005. Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Jordan Hinson, and Joe Morton – who played Miles Dyson in Terminator 2 – star in Eureka, with Ferguson even taking over Directorial duties from time to time.  Eureka is good, clean episodic SciFi fun.  Period.  Now here are the titles for the rest of season 3 of Eureka.

Domo Arigato, Mr. Sheriff Roboto: An Advance Review of the Return of Syfy's "Eureka"

10 July 2009 8:28 AM, PDT | Televisionary | See recent Televisionary news »

Throughout its run, Eureka, which returns tonight to Syfy with the first of its back ten episodes of Season Three, has more or less offered a safe haven on television: a rather cozy yarn about a quirky town of scientists whose inventions often improve--as much as threaten--the lives of the populace of this idyllic berg. That very relaxed, homey feel that so many of Eureka's fans gravitate towards often results in a decided lack of tension in the plots. And, you know what, that's okay. Not every series needs to be as mercilessly bleak as, say, The Shield. There's a place for a more homespun series that offers a winsome charm and snugness like Eureka. Season 3.5 of Eureka picks up right where we last saw Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) and the other assorted denizens of Eureka, with Jack cast out of his role as town sheriff, Jack's star-crossed would-be »
