A 1981 graduate of the University of Colorado.

Was employed by "Sports Illustrated" from 1985-2007 where he had been voted "Sportwriter of the Year" eight times. He joined ESPN in June 2008.

Angered Sammy Sosa during a July 2002 interview by asking him to take a test to prove he wasn't on steroids. Sosa had previously told reporters that he would be first in line if testing for steroids was ever implemented.
