Reeves-Smith came to the United States in 1881 to play Adolphus Birkett in "Betsey" at the Park Theatre in New York City. Almost a half century later, at the same venue, he played Augustus Merrick in "The Vinegar Tree".

Father of Olive Reeves-Smith .
Was the first Dr. Watson in Sherlock Holmes sound pictures.
