Abandoned a military career in favour of the theatre by the age of 27.On screen from 1919. His lean, tall figure, combined with his receding hairline and serious demeanour, made it somewhat inevitable that he was typically cast as academics, officers or priests. He often billed himself as 'P. Kynaston Reeves' (the 'P' stood for Philip).
