Cameron Romero Announces Origins – Prequel to Night Of The Living Dead

The Romero families directorial legacy continues with son following in his father’s footsteps. G. Cameron Romero (“Staunton Hill”), son of George A. Romero (“Night of the Living Dead”) announced today that he has launched his campaign on Indiegogo, for Origins, the genesis story of the first Romero zombie in his father’s iconic masterpiece Night Of The Living Dead, with a goal of $150,000 for pre-production costs.

Set in the turbulent late sixties, the film tells the story of a brilliant scientist – Dr. Alan Cartwright – who strikes a deal with the military that will give him all the resources he needs to finalize his work in exchange for what he later learns is a price all mankind will have to pay.

G. Cameron Romero, son of legendary horror filmmaker George A. Romero, has begun an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for an origin story about his father's most famous work - the original 1968 zombie classic "Night of the Living Dead".

Launched at helptelltheorigin.com, the younger Romero is seeking $150,000 for pre-production costs on the film which he will direct and will be produced under the Romero Pictures banner by both the older Romeo and Darrin Reed ("Lila and Eve").

Set in the late 1960s, the story focuses on a brilliant scientist who strikes a deal with the military that will give him all the resources he needs to finalize his work in exchange for what he later learns is a price all mankind will have to pay.

G. Cameron Romero, son of George A. Romero, has launched a crowdfunding campaign for the genesis story of his father’s iconic “Night of the Living Dead.”

The son, who will direct, launched the 30-day campaign Wednesday night through Indiegogo with a goal of $150,000 for pre-production costs at helptelltheorigin.com.

“I feel carrying on my dad’s legacy is something that I not only want to do, but it’s something I Have to do because I, like all my dad’s fans, was raised on his creation,” the younger Romero said.

Origins” is produced under the Romero Pictures banner. Producers include the elder Romero and Darrin Reed (“Lila and Eve”).

“The origin story deserves to be told by someone who passionately loves and has a unique insight into the original movie and nobody has that more than George’s own son,” Reed said.

Lifetime Films and A+E Studios have joined with JuVee Productions and ChickFlicks to produce "Lila and Eve," a new film from "Drumline" director Charles Stone III. The feature will star Viola Davis and Jennifer Lopez and will tell the story of grief-stricken mother Lila (Davis), who, after her son is murdered in a drive-by shooting, begins attending a support group where she meets Eve (Lopez), who lost her daughter. When the police seem unable to help, the two women end up taking justice into their own hands -- not through the activism you might expect from this initial set-up, but by killing their way up the ladder of drug dealers responsible for the death of Lila's son. "Boardwalk Empire" actor Shea Whigham will play the detective investigating the pair's crimes. A+E Networks‘ Lifetime Films and A+E Studios have partnered with Viola Davis and Julius Tennon’s JuVee Prods. and Sara Risher’s ChickFlicks to produce the independent feature Lila And Eve, starring Davis and Jennifer Lopez. Directed by Charles Stone III from a script by Pat Gilfillan, Lila And Eve is now filming for a festival premiere and theatrical release in late 2014/early 2015.
