Aldo DaRe was born in the borough of Pen Argyl, in Northampton County, Pennsylvania on 25 September 1926. He attended the University of California at Berkeley, served as a US Navy frogman during WWII and saw action on Iwo Jima. In 1965, he co-starred in an unsold pilot for a proposed NBC sitcom called "Steptoe and Son", which was based on the British TV series of the same name ( Steptoe and Son). The pilot never sold, but the concept, as reworked by Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin, became Sanford and Son. See more »
