Kevin Smith‘s comedy pilot “Hollyweed” has completed production, TheWrap has learned. The half-hour pilot, written and directed by Smith, is set in a Los Angeles marijuana dispensary. Smith and Donnell Rawlings star as two friends who recruit the help of a porn star, played by Frankie Shaw, to help them manage their small business. Kristin Bauer van Straten also stars as the dispensary’s cookie magnate neighbor. The pilot is produced by FremantleMedia North America and StarStream Media. Kevin Smith has wrapped production on “Hollyweed,” a half-hour comedy produced by FremantleMedia North America and StarStream Media, Variety has learned.
The project, written, directed by and starring Smith, is set in a Los Angeles cannabis dispensary. It follows two potheads, played by Smith and Donnell Rawlings (“Chappelle’s Show”), who battle a neighboring cookie magnate played by Kristin Bauer van Straten (“True Blood”) and enlist the help of a charming porn star played by Frankie Shaw (“Mr. Robot”), to help them navigate the ups and downs of managing a small business in their quest for profits and the perfect bud.

Smith announced he is currently filming the pilot for the show which has been financed by Starstream, who helped fund his latest film Yoga Hosers. Hollyweed takes place at a dispensary called L.A. Confidential (which is a real shop) and will feature Smith as one of the lead characters alongside Donnell Rawlings (Chappelle’s Show), who he describes as the show’s Randal in reference to his first feature film Clerks.
Kristin Bauer van Straten (True Blood) stars as the owner of a cookie store across the street.
