Game of Thrones: The Battle is over, but Winter is Coming

Tony Black on what could be in store for Game of Thrones in ‘The Winds of Winter’…

It’s taken me a while, but I’ve managed to recover from the televisual onslaught that was Game of Thrones season six episode nine, ‘Battle of the Bastards’. Spoilers will inevitably follow for this monster, this narrative titan of an episode, so get thee to Riverrun behind those walls if you haven’t seen it yet. If you have, perhaps your palpitations have stopped, or perhaps not. Either way, we can breath easy. The battle was won, and not in GoT‘s usual style by the worst Westeros has to offer. For once, David Benioff & D.B. Weiss have given us the justice we have so desperately craved for years now, even more than the day King Joffrey choked on his own smugness. Barmy Bolton is, at last, a goner, and if there »

A 1970s' New York mob story, The Kitchen follows the women who run the rackets when their husbands are locked up...

Vertigo, the darker side of DC that has brought us comics and graphic novels like Preacher, iZombie and The Sandman (which either have turned or are being made into into must-see TV and movies), is having another one of its titles adapted for the screen. New Line Cinema, which owns the rights to Vertigo properties, will be adapting Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle’s seedy crime comic The Kitchen

Masters was rumored to have pitched the idea to Vertigo editor Will Dennis as “it's Goodfellas meets Mob Wives."

The Kitchen is gritty portrayal of New York City in the late 1970s, a city on the edge of bankruptcy that seethes with sex, drugs and gang violence. The Hell’s Kitchen district is terrorised by Irish mobsters »

Whoopi Goldberg will be back as moderator of “The View” for the show’s 20th season in the fall. The Oscar-winning actress is on the verge of signing a one-year contract extending her time on the show through next summer, Variety has learned.

The deal is expected to close by the end of this week, according to two sources with knowledge of the talks. Contrary to online reports, Goldberg will not be taking a pay cut as part of her new contract. She will continue to earn her current annual salary, which is in the $5 to $6 million range.

Similar to this year’s season 19, Goldberg will act as “The View’s” moderator for the first four episodes of the week and some Fridays. Joy Behar will fill in as the show’s moderator when Goldberg is off. “The View” used to pre-tape that day, but ABC News executives ordered a »

As we inch closer to summer, The View is nearing the end of their 19th season, and thus the most popular question regarding the talk show has risen again: What in the world will happen next? Rumors have been flying in recent months about the future of the popular talk show regarding its ever-changing panel of hosts. Each new season seems to bring something new, which inevitably sparks a tiny bit of drama. Last year, the show parted ways with Rosie O'Donnell (again), Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez and saw the addition of Raven-Symoné, Paula Faris and Candace-Cameron Bure. So what will happen this year? While no one is ever really sure what ABC will have in store for us, there have »

Oops! The View Co-Hosts Try Fill Dead Air Time After Whoopi Goldberg Accidentally Signs Off Three Minutes Early

7 June 2016 10:33 AM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

If anyone ever doubted The View was live, Whoopi Goldberg disproved that theory Tuesday morning. After the show returned from its final commercial break, she jumped the gun about three minutes early. "Welcome back. We are live-streaming after The View on Facebook Live and we're talking about whether Taylor Swift scared off her last boyfriend Calvin Harris," she said. Goldberg then launched into the topic prematurely. "Apparently she jumped the gun with the marriage thing and the baby talk and freaked him out," she said. "What do you think, Ray?" Raven-Symoné laughed at Goldberg's mistake as she read from the teleprompter. "Well, I think that Disney's Zootopia was just released on »

“Gma Weekend” lifestyle anchor Sara Haines is in talks to take over as a co-host on the “The View,” Variety has learned.

She’d be occupying the seat vacated by comedian Michelle Collins, who is exiting “The View” after just one year.

“We’re lucky to have terrific and talented guest co-hosts fill in at the table and we include Sara Haines on that list,” said an ABC spokesperson. “When we are ready to make to make an announcement about next season, we will.”

Game of Thrones Season 6 – Episode 6 Review – Blood of My Blood

Blood of My Blood

Directed by Jack Bender

Written by Bryan Cogman

Bran

Now Hodor-less, Bran is now being dragged by an exhausted Meera, though he is unaware of this fact as he’s darting through key moments of time, visions smashing into each other from his father’s beheading to the Mad King demanding that they, “Burn them all”.  It’s only when Meera cannot drag the barely conscious Bran any further does he finally awaken – due to the Night King arriving in a vision – to which Bran informs his only companion that, “They’ve found us!” With this a band of undead descend on them both.  It’s here when all hope is lost does a masked stranger on horseback appear, and rapidly makes short work of the attackers.  Grabbing both Bran and Meera he pulls them both up to his horses and then gallops away.

Winter is Blogging 6.6: Blood of My Blood [Contains Spoilers]

30 May 2016 2:09 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Writers: Bryan Cogman.

Directors: Jack Bender.

Cast: Emilia Clarke, Kit Harrington, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Sophie Turner, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Gwendoline Christie, et al.

Synopsis: An old foe comes back into the picture. Gilly meets Sam’s family. Arya faces a difficult choice. Jaime faces off against the High Sparrow.

After the absolute shit-storm that we left Bran, Meera and Hodor with at the end of ‘The Door,’ along with a whole load of heartbreak, I was wary of one of two possible scenarios that would play out. The first is that we wouldn’t see them for a few episodes, and would be left completely uninformed as to their fates. It wouldn’t be the first time that Game of Thrones has done this, but thankfully, due to the traction and pacing of this particular series, it seemed unlikely. The second scenario was that this episode would start with a direct follow-up, »

Game of Thrones Episode 6.6 Recap: Guess Who Is Back?

29 May 2016 11:52 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Episode 6 of Game of Thrones "Blood of My Blood", does not begin with Hodor miraculously alive. The gentle giant is dead, but did indeed hold the door long enough for Meera (Ellie Kendrick) and Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) to escape into the woods. Bran is still in the trance. He sees a montage of the events that led up to this point. The White Walkers are front and center, but we do get a glimpse of The Mad King and his stockpile of Wildfire in the vision. This has to be an important set up for the eventual showdown with The Night King. He wakes up as they are surrounded by the undead. Meera valiantly covers him; a masked rider swinging a mace of fire comes to their rescue. He pulls them unto his horse and they escape into the forest.

Review: On 'Game of Thrones,' who's acting and who's for real?

A review of tonight's Game of Thrones coming up just as soon as soon as you accept it would just be farting, belching and slapping without me.... "It's not an easy thing admitting to yourself what you really are." -Margaery After a run of episodes packed with tragic deaths, important resurrections, tearful reunions, and unexpected love connections, "Blood of My Blood" takes its foot off the gas a bit to reassess several major power dynamics and check in on some characters and locales that haven't gotten much attention of late, like Sam's visit to his father's castle or our first glimpse of Walder Frey since season 3. (As a result, it left many of the show's major groups on the sidelines for the week, including the gangs from Castle Black, Meereen, Winterfell, and the Iron Islands.) It's a necessary kind of episode, both from a plot standpoint and a tonal one »
