Country music star Willie Nelson has been arrested Friday after a border patrol officer at an immigration checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas found marijuana in his tour bus. He was released from Hudspeth County Jail after posting a ,500 bond.
The 77-year-old Grammy winner was found to have six ounces of cannabis while traveling from California to Austin.
Harmonica player Mickey Raphael told Rolling Stone that Nelson "feels great - he lost six ounces."
Hudspeth County Sheriff Arvin West said that despite Nelson, who has long been an advocate for the legalization of marijuana, was treated just "like anybody else" when he was taken into custody. And if the singer is ordered to serve jail time, West told El Paso Times that he is going to make the famous star cook and clean.
