Joe Ranft was born on March 13, 1960 in Pasadena, California, USA as Joseph Henry Ranft. He was a writer and actor, known for Toy Story (1995), A Bug's Life (1998) and Toy Story 2 (1999). He was married to Sue Barry Ranft. He died on August 16, 2005 in Mendocino County, California.

Father of Jordan Ranft and Sophia Ranft.
Death occurred when he was a passenger in a car that veered off the road and plunged 130 feet into the Pacific Ocean. The driver was also killed, and another passenger was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Studied animation at the California Institute of the Arts and began working as a story artist at Walt Disney Studios in 1980. Also provided animated voices on occasion.
Before the crash, he and the driver were on their way to the Mosaic Multicultural Foundation, a spiritual conference where successful businessmen mentor men who are trying to straighten out their lives.
Corpse Bride (2005), Cars (2006) and Waking Sleeping Beauty (2009) are all dedicated to his memory.
The Pixar movie "Cars" was dedicated to him.
Brother of Jerome Ranft.
