It seems 2015/2016 shall be marked as the TV season that saw the resurgence of old shows reborn in mini-series form (or “event series” as the Us networks so desperately want us to call them). Its also the year that these returning shows, The X-Files and Heroes Reborn, did nothing but disappoint the fans who loved the shows and hoped – beyond all hope it turns out – that these new iterations would recapture what made the original series so good.

Heroes Reborn comes from original series creator Tim Kring (Heroes, Touch, Daybreak) and begins a year ago, in Odessa, Texas after a terrorist attack leaves the city decimated. Those with extraordinary abilities are blamed for this tragic event forcing them into hiding

South Asian Actors Are All Over TV This Year

South Asian Actors Are All Over TV This Year
Priyanka Chopra may be the first Bollywood biggie to take center stage on the small screen Stateside, but she’s hardly the only actor of South Asian descent to make a dent in Hollywood. Vulture rounded up some of the brown folks taking to the small screen these days as way more than your geeky sidekick, along with their two cents on being an actor of color in the industry.Sendhil Ramamurthy, Heroes Reborn Ramamurthy made sci-fi fans swoon on the original Heroes, and he’ll no doubt do the same on NBC’s reboot, where he reprises his moody scientist Mohinder Suresh. In the five years since the first series wrapped, Ramamurthy’s split his time on Covert Affairs, The Office, and Beauty & the Beast, typically playing characters that weren’t originally meant to be cast as South Asian. Ramamurthy has said that finding strong, diverse characters is slim pickings.

'Heroes' Cast: Where Are They Now?

  • Moviefone
Once again, it's time for a motley band of mutants to save the world. At least, they'd better, in "Heroes Reborn," the NBC limited series that debuts Sept. 24. Picking up where the 2006-10 series "Heroes" left off, the new drama will bring back several prominent characters from the old show, including time-and-space-halting Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), mysterious operative Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman), his equally mysterious partner The Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis), mind-reader Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), power broker Angela Petrelli (Cristine Rose), scholar Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), and Micah Sanders (Noah Gray-Cabey), who can control machines with his mind.

But what of the rest? Well, "Heroes" turned out to be a launch pad for many talented stars who've gone on to busy, super-powered careers of their own. (Granted, Oka found time to come back to the mainland for "Heroes Reborn," despite his starring role on "Hawaii Five-o." But then, Hiro can manipulate space and time.

Review: 'Heroes' stumbles back to life with 'Heroes Reborn' miniseries

Review: 'Heroes' stumbles back to life with 'Heroes Reborn' miniseries
"Heroes Reborn" begins — as it all but certainly had to — with a philosophical monologue. Noah Bennett (Jack Coleman), aka Hrg, aka the most popular "Heroes" character returning for a major role in this sequel miniseries, is considering all that's happened to the world since the original series ended, and the strained relationship he has with daughter Claire. "When you look back at the things you've done, the decisions that you've made" Noah ponders, "the last thing you want to feel is regret. Am I right?" I don't know how much regret "Heroes" creator Tim Kring feels over the way the show went from phenomenon to punchline in only a few years. But it's telling that the first hour of the two-hour "Heroes Reborn" premiere (it airs tomorrow night at 8 on NBC) is book-ended by musings — first by Hrg, then by ponderous scientist Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) — about how much better

Heroes Reborn Review – TV NBC

There aren’t a lot of shows with the ratings history of Heroes that would spawn a revival/respawn/sequel. While the show launched to huge ratings, and had an impressive first season, it continually declined for the rest of its run, ultimately falling far enough that by the fourth season it wasn’t any surprise that the show was going.

Apart from the pure ratings approach to popularity, there was something of a backlash before long, and though a solid base of fans complained when the show left, it wasn’t in the pop culture spotlight.

Now, after some 8 years have gone, the show returns with Heroes Reborn.

It isn’t quite the next greatest thing, mostly because it has too much to do, and there’s no way to fit it all in, but it isn’t going to disappoint fans, and it balances the mystery with the
