Sundance-favourite Safety Not Guaranteed gets a Great New Clip & Batch of Images

23 May 2012 8:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

With a perfect balance of comedy and drama, Safety Not Guaranteed is one of my favourite films of the year, coming to Sundance London last month and becoming the hit of the festival.

For all the reasons why I loved it, you can read our five-star review of the film to get an idea of just how good it is.

Adding to all the brilliant things we’ve seen already, getting the fantastic first song from the soundtrack and a new clip yesterday, Yahoo Movies have debuted a great new clip from the film of Mark Duplass in mid-heist. And as if that wasn’t enough, Rialto Entertainment have announced they’ll be releasing the film in Australia and New Zealand (on 26th July and 28th June, respectively), and have a new batch of images to share with us too.

This Featurette for Safety Not Guaranteed is Guaranteed to Make you Chuckle

15 May 2012 8:26 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Colin Trevorrow’s “Safety Not Guaranteed” looks like a fun time. It looks even better if you’re a fan of leading lass Aubrey Plaza’s brand of deadpan comedy. And if not? Hey, it still looks like a nice change of pace from all the usual Hollywood blockbusters and depressing indie art films you’re probably used to. Check out a new featurette from the film if you don’t believe me. From the producers of Little Miss Sunshine – When an unusual classified ad inspires three cynical Seattle magazine employees to look for the story behind it, they discover a mysterious eccentric named Kenneth, a likable but paranoid supermarket clerk, who believes hes solved the riddle of time travel and intends to depart again soon. Together, they embark on a hilarious, smart, and unexpectedly heartfelt journey that reveals how far believing can take you. “Safety Not Guaranteed” co-stars Jake M. Johnson, »

Watch the True Story behind ‘Safety Not Guaranteed’ with Aubrey Plaza

14 May 2012 8:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Safety Not Guaranteed was one of the most anticipated films heading into Sundance back at the start of the year, and came out earning both critical acclaim and audience approval, something that doesn’t happen that often.

The brilliant first trailer and poster surfaced back in March, before it made its UK debut at Sundance London last month. I fell in love with the film, and you can read our five-star review of it here to see why.

Apple have debuted a great new featurette that takes a look at the true story behind the film, inspired by a real ad placed in 1997, and how it developed into Safety Not Guaranteed.

Colin Trevorrow’s brilliant feature directorial debut with Safety Not Guaranteed is one of the year’s must-see films.

After a brilliant reception at its world premiere at Sundance in January, it then came across the shores for Sundance London last month, where I fell in love with it – you can read our five-star review of the film here.

We’ve seen a handful of great things from the film already, including the terrific first trailer, and now the film’s official site has debuted a brilliant little clip, entitled ‘Stormtroopers’.

Three videos for you this Saturday morning, including a new Red Band Trailer for the sci-fi comedy “The Watch”, formerly “Neighborhood Watch”. Apparently the title change was due to the shooting in Florida involving a neighborhood watch and a teenager that became national news. The film, starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade, is due July 27, 2012. There’s also a new clip from the funky drama “Safety Not Guaranteed”, starring the always adorable Aubrey Plaza. Three magazine employees head out on an assignment to interview a guy who placed a classified ad seeking a companion for time travel. The film co-stars Jake M. Johnson, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Mark Duplass, Jeff Garlin, Jenica Bergere, Kristen Bell, Karan Soni, and is due June 8, 2012. Finally, »

Brilliant New Clip from Safety Not Guaranteed with Aubrey Plaza and Mark Duplass

3 May 2012 8:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Debuting at Sundance earlier this year, and then coming to Sundance London last weekend, Safety Not Guaranteed is without a doubt one of the best films of the year.

The first trailer and poster surfaced at the end of March, and if you haven’t seen them yet, I’d highly recommend taking a look now.

I caught the film at Sundance London and fell in love with the film from the very start – you can read my review of the film here (it earns every one of its five stars) – and I’m really hoping that it will get a UK release, because I can’t wait to watch it again.

A great new clip has surfaced online, courtesy of PopSugar, featuring two of the leading cast, Aubrey Plaza and Mark Duplass.

Tmp's Summer 2012 Movie Guide: June

Honestly, if I was forced to judge Summer 2012 at first glance, I would say it was pretty weak.  Compared to 2011 and 2010, there's just not as many movies to look forward to.  While it seems easy to write off this Summer as a dud, I have three reasons why it might actually be awesome; The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, and Prometheus.  Honestly, that's all Summer 2012 needs in order to be one for the history books.  Even then, there's still more than enough films to warrant your attention this summer.  To help you sort through them all, we've once again compiled all the most interesting films of the season into four easy to read, informative guides.  For the next four days, we'll take you on a journey through the best cinema has to offer in Summer 2012.  Welcome to our Summer 2012 Movie Guide! Film Feature: The 10 Most Anticipated Films of Summer 2012

25 April 2012 6:38 AM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – Could this summer movie season possibly top the last one creatively? Going into Summer 2011, most people were nervous… and with good reason, as there appeared to be far more potential creative and commercial disasters than normal. And then movie after movie surprised us all, from major hits to minor joys. Will Summer 2012 provide the same rollercoaster of thrills?

Summer 2011 will go down as one of the most purely entertaining in film history. Sure, kids movies fell Completely flat (the less said about “Cars 2,” “The Smurfs,” and “Zookeeper” the better) and there was some big-budget junk, but there were a surprising number of blockbusters that reminded us why we fell in love with the Summer tentpole movie in the first place, films like “Super 8,” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” and “X-Men: First Class.” And those big-budget hits were mixed in with a nice selection of critical »

The L.A. Complex 1.01 Review - Broke, But Still Dreaming

The L.A. Complex 1.01 Review - Broke, But Still Dreaming

Before I begin, I would like to dedicate this review of tonight's premiere episode of The L.A. Complex in memory of The CW's defunct Melrose Place reboot, because I would feel all sorts of wrong if I didn't since the show reminds me (and other viewers) of the 2009 cancelled soap. Okay, now that I've gotten that off my chest, let's begin!

Hailing from Canada and the producers of Degrassi, The L.A. Complex is everything that Melrose Place (2009) could have been and more. You have six P.Y.T.'s trying to make it in the horror show that is Hollywood (which did not get a Disney-esque view tonight) all while handling their personal struggles as well. Sounds familiar? It most certainly does, which fellow Tvo writer and L.A. Complex fan Clarissa wrote about in her own review of the new drama. »

The L.A. Complex Review: California, Here They Come!

24 April 2012 8:00 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

The L.A. Complex lured me in at first more by its title than its premise.

It's true, I'm a sucker for puns and double entendres and I figured I had seen enough shows about beautiful people living a big city, dealing with the basic trappings of love triangles, pregnancy scares, psycho stalkers, sex tapes. Pretty much what Melrose Place specialized in a weekly basis.

But give series premiere credit: it reeled me in with a unique spin on that concept, never wavering from the premise that residents of The Luxe are all looking to make it big in Los Angeles.

The L.A. Complex has a hook and, as long as it centers all of its soap opera-esque storylines around that set up, I see definite promise in following the up and down lives of hopeful actors, dancers and comedians.

Of course, any series of this nature is dependent on its »

'The L.A. Complex': Jewel Staite makes the move back TV stateside

Call it "Melrose Place" meets "Fame" ... meets Canada.

Young showbiz hopefuls from up north make their way to Los Angeles to seek stardom, while occupying neighboring apartments, as The CW gives the seriocomic Canadian series "The L.A. Complex" its American premiere Tuesday, April 24. The initial six stories already have aired in the show's native country, where a 13-episode second season has been ordered.

Some of the ensemble cast will be familiar to U.S. viewers, including Cassie Steele, who worked with the same producers on the youth-oriented "Degrassi" franchise. She now plays Abby, who goes on acting auditions while resisting her boyfriend's pleas to return home. Jewel Staite ("Firefly," "Stargate Atlantis") also stars as Raquel, who's been there and back -- and wants to get there again, to the point of boldly suggesting that a producer change a character's ethnicity to accommodate her.
