The Evil Dead Remake Has Same Plot, But with Drugs?

31 October 2011 7:20 AM, PDT | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Horror fans have been less than thrilled that a remake of the Sam Raimi horror classic, The Evil Dead, is in the works with director Federico "Fede" Alvarez at the helm, rather than the sequel to Army of Darkness (Evil Dead 3) that Raimi and his brother, Ivan Raimi, were working on as recently as two years ago. The online outcry against the remake in the fan community has been loud and lasting enough that "Ash" himself, Bruce Campbell, went on Reddit to announce his involvement in the project as a producer — with Raimi and original Evil Dead producer Robert Tapert — and to give his "word" that "the remake's gonna kick ass."

Here's what you've got to look forward to...

24 January 2011 1:30 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

As long as Sam Raimi continues to work, there will be talk of another Evil Dead film, whether a third sequel or a reboot of the series entirely. The director never quite lets the idea die, and while doing early promotion for Drag Me to Hell he said he wanted to work on a new script [1] with his brother Ivan Raimi. He later talked about the idea of having a young director remake the original film [2], so it could be seen properly on the big screen. Now Mr. Raimi's long-time producer Robert Tapert is perpetuating the idea of an Evil Dead reboot once more. Speaking to Freep [3] [via Styd [4]] Mr Tapert said, [An Evil Dead reboot is] possible; we're looking at a script this month... What's interesting about 'Evil Dead' is very few people saw it in the format we made it for, which is for the theater. ... I think Sam wants to embrace the »
