Horror fans have been less than thrilled that a remake of the Sam Raimi horror classic, The Evil Dead, is in the works with director Federico "Fede" Alvarez at the helm, rather than the sequel to Army of Darkness (Evil Dead 3) that Raimi and his brother, Ivan Raimi, were working on as recently as two years ago. The online outcry against the remake in the fan community has been loud and lasting enough that "Ash" himself, Bruce Campbell, went on Reddit to announce his involvement in the project as a producer — with Raimi and original Evil Dead producer Robert Tapert — and to give his "word" that "the remake's gonna kick ass."
Campbell also used his fan-favorite status to endorse the hiring of screenwriter Diablo Cody to rewrite the script written by Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues, which helped to asuage the fears of some fans, as did the news that Campbell »

If you had any doubt that Hollywood was reliant on big movie franchises, let them be eradicated right about now...
As has long been the case, sequels are a reliable way of making plenty of cash from recognisable names. They've been a part of the Hollywood filmmaking process for decades, and as this list of 95 sequels currently in the works proves, will continue to be so for as long as we stump up the cash to go and see them.
We've been doing this list annually for a couple of years now, and this year's collection is, perhaps unsurprising, the longest round-up of upcoming sequels that we've done. Still, given that there are nearly a hundred sequels listed below, we're a little sad to see that Hollywood's people in suits couldn't find room for a belated return to Mac And Me...
Here's what you've got to look forward to...
As long as Sam Raimi continues to work, there will be talk of another Evil Dead film, whether a third sequel or a reboot of the series entirely. The director never quite lets the idea die, and while doing early promotion for Drag Me to Hell he said he wanted to work on a new script  with his brother Ivan Raimi. He later talked about the idea of having a young director remake the original film , so it could be seen properly on the big screen. Now Mr. Raimi's long-time producer Robert Tapert is perpetuating the idea of an Evil Dead reboot once more.
