Though it has come a trifle too late, at last the government has woken up to the fact that Manna Dey is indeed an artist who needs to be awarded with the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. It would indeed one of the rare occasions where an artist has been conferred with this award. He is the last among his contemporaries in the male category that still is fighting fit; his contemporaries who are now regaling the courts of god include Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh and Hemant Kumar. The delay could be owing to the fact that here was a voice that could not become a signature tune of a famous star so it had to carve its own niche in its own way. »

After a host of foreign concerts and producing his independent music, versatile singer, Sonu Niigaam is back on the Bollywood front, but this time he means business and that is not to sing "crap".The 36-year-old singer whose 'Chiggy Wiggy' with Australian pop star Kylie Minogue and 'Don't Say Alvida' from Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer 'Main Aur Mrs Khanna' have turned out to be the new chartbusters, said that he consciously cut his Bollywood assignments because he did not want to be associated with low quality music."I did not want to work according to anybody's whims and fancies. After 17 years of my career, I think I can take this much liberty to associate myself just with quality music and say no to trash. I have worked hard to be where I am today so I better choose accordingly to protect my reputation," Sonu said. »

Deepika wants to become Audrey Hepburn

Deepika Padukone has had a dream-run in Bollywood with just three releases, but the model-turned-actress says her dream is to play the elegant Audrey Hepburn, her style icon.

"I would like to play Audrey Hepburn, my style icon, in movies like 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' or 'Roman Holiday'," Deepika told reporters on the sidelines of the Wills India Fashion Week (Wifw) Saturday, where she walked the ramp for Ranna Gill and Rina Dhaka's collections sponsored by luxury brand Fiama Di Wills.

After debuting opposite Shah Rukh Khan in 2007 hit "Om Shanti Om" and doing "Chandni Chowk To China" with Akshay Kumar, Deepika's next is "Love Aaj Kal" alongside Saif Ali Khan. And she is all praise for filmmaker Imtiaz Ali of "Jab We Met" fame.
