Spotlight: Johnny Depp's Charity Work

“I am honored to be associated with brave little Dustin by wearing this silver and leather wrist band.” – Johnny Depp wearing memorial bracelet at his induction to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Golden Globe winner, musician (guitar), French winemaker and restaurateur, Johnny Depp is authentically touched by the genuine nature of a child’s request.

Depp made a voice message for a 17-year-old British girl who had been in a coma for five months; parents of the girl asked him to tape a voice message because he was the favorite actor of their daughter and they hoped playing the message everyday would help wake her up. As an advocate for Sophie's Gift, a growing database of celebrity messages aimed at helping coma patients and raising funds for crucial hospital equipment, Depp was touched by the letter and said he would do whatever he could to help.

How Julianne Hough Landed a Spot in Harry Potter - Without Any Felix Felicis

This just in: Julianne Hough is a witch! At least, she played one in an early-aughts movie we all know and love, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Both Julianne and her older brother Derek Hough appeared as Hogwarts extras in the 2001 film, leading to some exceptional throwback photos and plenty of Wizarding world interview fuel. How did they get so lucky without the help of the Felix Felicis potion? Well, according to fellow Dancing With the Stars pro and one-time foster brother Mark Ballas, it was a perk of attending a renowned performing arts school in London. The Hough siblings have spoken several times about their experiences on the Harry Potter set, where they spent two months filming for the magical movie. "We would always get in trouble," Derek recalled to People. "I was in Ravenclaw - I stole the robe, the tie, the scarf, and I stole cutlery from the Great Hall!

Daniel Radcliffe Explains Why He Took So Many Strange Roles After Harry Potter

Child stars are notorious for turning into weird adults, which is perhaps unsurprising when your formative years were spent with the world watching your every move. So, it’s a small miracle that the three child stars of the Harry Potter franchise, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have turned out pretty well-adjusted (well, as far as we know anyway). Of the three, though, it’s Radcliffe who’s been the busiest, obviously eager to prove that he’s not just a pair of glasses, a wand and a rather fetching scar.

His post-Potter roles have ranged from a critically acclaimed turn in The Woman in Black, playing Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings, a guy cursed with devil horns in Horns and, uh, a fart-propelled corpse in Swiss Army Man.

Now, in an interview with Et, he explains his thinking behind these choices:

Directly after Potter, it was

Interview: Daniel Radcliffe Talks Beast Of Burden and the Need for Creative Risk-taking

The post-Harry Potter career of Daniel Radcliffe remains in full swing and has been an interesting ride filled with surprising project choices. His latest indie, Beast of Burden, a drama disguised as a thriller, sees him collaborating with arthouse-oriented Swedish director Jesper Ganslandt. Going in blind (without even reading the rather spoilerific synopsis) seems like the best course of action for Beast of Burden, since the story strives to reveal new layers that force viewers to reevaluate how they see Radcliffe’s character, Sean Haggerty. So, all we’ll say is Radcliffe portrays a former U.S. Air Force pilot, a man who begrudgingly finds himself smuggling drugs for the cartel. We had the opportunity to briefly chat with Radcliffe regarding his newest release. ScreenAnarchy: Taking a look...

J.K. Rowling, Stop Queerbaiting: We’re Ready for Gay Dumbledore in ‘Fantastic Beasts’ — Opinion

J.K. Rowling, Stop Queerbaiting: We’re Ready for Gay Dumbledore in ‘Fantastic Beasts’ — Opinion
When “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling announced in 2007 that she “always thought of Dumbledore as gay,” initial reactions were mixed. While some lauded the writer for what they deemed an earnest attempt at inclusion, many were unimpressed by the posthumous outing of a character whose chapter had long been closed. (The final book in the series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” was published three months before Rowling’s revelation).

Being cockeyed optimists (it’s from “South Pacific,” get your minds out of the gutter), “Harry Potter” fans hoped the forthcoming movies might actually show Dumbledore, you know, being gay, even though it is never explicitly stated in the books. However, three more movies came out after Rowling’s admission, with nary a mention of Dumbledore’s supposed romance with Grindelwald, a friend from his youth who betrays him. To be fair, there was a lot of story to pack
