I love movies about reunions. The comedy and underlying drama of The Big Chill warms me, and every once in a while, I get an urge to delight in summer camp with Mike Binder's Indian Summer. Films like these outline, so wonderfully, the ways we change and stay the same, and just how hard it can be to relate to those we've known forever in a way that's entertaining rather than sickeningly sappy.
But I'm getting the sense that this won't happen with Adam Sandler's reunion comedy. Last month, Erik shared news that director Dennis Dugan (Zohan) was going to lead Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade in the story of five best friends from high school who reunite after 30 years on the Fourth of July weekend. Now Variety reports that Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, and Colin Quinn are joining the reunion.
So far,

Until now Adam Sandler's next project has seemed largely like a sausage festival-- it'll be him, Chris Rock, Kevin James and David Spade sitting around and cracking jokes. But now two women who have both demonstrated their comedic chops will be jumping on board, meaning the boys may finally have to compete for the laughs. Maya Rudolph and Salma Hayek, along with another SNL alum, Colin Quinn, have all signed on to take part in the untitled film. Variety reports that Hayek and Rudolph will both play wives, Hayek paired with Sandler and Rudolph with Rock. Quinn's role in the film is not explained. The film is about five high school best friends reuniting on a Fourth of July weekend, which suggests the film will be plotless enough to give lots of room for riffing and improvising among the main actors. That's fine by me-- these guys have always

Salma Hayek has signed on to star in Adam Sandler’s next comedy. The Dennis Dugan-directed movie (which is either called “Lake House” or “Untitled” depending on who you ask) has Sandler teaming up with Chris Rock, Kevin James, Rob Schneider and David Spade to play five high school buddies who reunite on a Fourth of July weekend. I don’t know about you but I’m truly excited to see these comedic super-stars together on screen for the first time. The Very first time – ever. Hayek, who has been pretty hilarious alongside Alec Baldwin on recent episodes of “30 Rock”, will play Sandler’s wife in the film. Obviously she married beneath her. Also joining the cast are “SNL” vets Colin Quinn and Maya Rudolph. Rudolph will play Chris Rock’s wife and as for Quinn - I’m guessing he’ll play Sandler’s obnoxious neighbor or something.

Say what you like about Adam Sandler, but the man’s clearly not lacking in self-esteem. Over his last few movies alone, the superstar comedian has counted the likes of Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale, Keri Russell and Emmanuelle Chriqui as his on-screen love interests. And now he’s added another ultra-hottie to the list of uber-ultra-hotties, after Salma Hayek signed on to star as his wife in the as-yet untitled comedy that will see Happy Madison heavy-hitters Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider team up For The First Time Ever In The History Of Movies.Rock also saw his screen wife board the project today in the shape of former SNL star Maya Rudolph. Colin Quinn, another SNL alum, also joined the Dennis Dugan-directed movie, which will see the Happy Madison Five play childhood friends reuniting on a July 4th weekend. Needless to say, hilarity ensues.

After a successful guest starring stint on "30 Rock," Salma Hayek is bringing her comic sensibilities to a new endeavor, Adam Sandler's next flick. Variety reports Hayek, Maya Randolph and Colin Quinn are joining the cast of Sandler's untitled comedy at Columbia Pictures. As you'd expect from Sandler's long list of lovely onscreen wives, Hayek is on board to play the wife of the summer movie season staple and Rudolph will play co-star Chris Rock's spouse. The comedy finds Sandler, Rock, Kevin James, Rob Schneider and David Space as five high school best friends who reunite 20 years later on a...

My mind does not immediately go to comedy when I think of Salma Hayek. In my defense, that's usually because of what she's wearing. But Salma will play Adam Sandler's wife in that new comedy for Columbia, for which Sandler has recruited Kevin James and all his old SNL buddies who can't make a hit movie on their own.
There's no title yet, but think Happy Madison Presents The Big Chill; the film will follow five best friends from high school who reunite over a holiday weekend. The Hollywood Reporter informs us that Maya Rudolph and Colin Quinn will factor in somehow, and - surprise, surprise - Dennis Dugan will direct.
Hayek has dabbled more in comedic roles lately. She's had guest spots on Ugly Betty, of which she is an executive producer, and she has had an extended run on 30 Rock. However, playing Sandler's wife? He's becoming the new Woody Allen.

Adam Sandler’s new, yet-to-be-titled Sony comedy is finally upping its oestrogen content, adding Salma Hayek and Maya Rudolph, alongside former SNL performer Colin Quinn. It’s still shaping up to be an excuse for Sandler to act alongside some of his comedy mates – Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade and Rob Schneider are already all aboard. And regular Sandler collaborator Denis Dugan is directing the tale of five high school best mates who reunite 30 years after graduating. Since Sandler’s producing, he gets... .
