FunnyOrDie's '80s super agent Warren Klein leaves a new voicemail for Christian Slater -- Listen

14 December 2011 9:10 AM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Hollywood super-agent Warren Klein is back… and he’s got some distressing news for Christian Slater. A new 1980s voicemail from the awesome, albeit fake, Benihana-loving, straight-shooting Klein — who has previously called up clients like Jami Gertz, C. Thomas Howell, Kirk Cameron — has been unearthed, warning the Gleaming the Cube star about the release of rival skateboarding flick, Thrashin’. (“The trades are gonna eat this up! Two action-packed romantic skateboarding epics in the same quarter!”) Of course, we all know now that Thrashin’ was released in 1986, while Gleaming the Cube was released in 1989, but that’s not even Klein’s best dead-wrong but well-meaning prediction. »

Short Round Turns 40

20 August 2011 1:10 PM, PDT | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Most actors, even after a lifetime in front of the camera, are lucky to have one memorable character. But for Jonathan Ke Quan, he gave audiences two memorable characters in just two years: Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Data in The Goonies.

Well, today is Quan's 40th birthday. That's right, that cute kid who told Harrison Ford, "Hey, Dr. Jones, no time for love. We've got company," is middle-aged.

After The Goonies, Ke Quan did a couple of more movies, including a cameo in Encino Man. Since being a child star, Ke Quan graduated from the University of Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts. He's since gone on to do stunt choreography for movies like X-Men and The One.

So happy birthday Short Round, we mean Jonathan. Whenever we think of booby traps, we'll think of you.

What Your Favourite Indiana Jones Movie Says About You

19 July 2011 6:29 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

It’s safe to say that most of us who are enthused by the big screen have some kind of affection for Indiana Jones. After all, what’s not to like? He’s adventurous, dry, good with the ladies, intelligent, unbelievably cool, and somewhat of a goofball.

George Lucas originally envisioned Indiana Jones as more of a James Bond variant, sipping martinis and smoking cigarettes, but Lawrence Kasdan’s wonderful script for Raiders of the Lost Ark painted him a little differently – the kind of man who only knows how to make it up as he goes, a trait which ultimately served to make him all the more human. Harrison Ford personified it majestically.

The Indy films are one of cinema’s best loved endeavours (we’ll try and forget about the latest one), and it’s assumed, as with most things, that everybody has a favourite. Unlike with The Lord of the Rings films, »

Hot Rods & Droids: A George Lucas Profile (Part 3)

28 June 2011 11:54 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Trevor Hogg profiles the career of legendary filmmaker George Lucas in the third of a six-part feature... read parts one and two.

“We both have a tradition that, when we have a film opening for which there are high expectations, we get out of town,” stated filmmaker Steven Spielberg, who vacationed with colleague George Lucas in Hawaii while Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) and Star Wars (1977) were being theatrically released. Lucas asked Spielberg what he would like to do as his follow-up effort. “I said I wanted to do a James Bond film. United Artists had approached me after Sugarland Express [1974] and asked me to do a film for them. I said, ‘Sure give me the next James Bond film.’ But they said they couldn’t do that. Then George said he had a film that was even better than a James Bond. It was called Raiders of the Lost Ark »
