Not decided on Hero as yet - Jackie Shroff

4 November 2014 2:38 AM, PST | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

Last week Jackie Shroff woke up to reports that he will be playing the villain's part in the remake of Hero. For those who came in late, Jackie played the title role in Subhash Ghai's Hero. The film turned him into an overnight star and launched his career as a pinup idol. The switchover to villainous parts seems incongruous considering Jackie's matinee-idol looks. But he shrugs it off saying, "Even if I am good-looking, so what? Nowadays we have a lot of handsome villains. Who says villains have to look a particular way? Vinod Khanna who played villains, was one of the most handsome men in our industry." Jackie first played the antagonist in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Mission: Kashmir. More recently he played the bad man in Yash Raj Film's Aurangzeb and now in Farah Khan's Happy New Year. Confesses Jackie, "I enjoy playing grey characters. There »

Shiamak is known as the Guru of Dance, and has choreographed some of the best dance pieces for stage and screen. To celebrate the choreographer’s birthday, we thought we would shine the light on his work in films! He truly has an eye for creating incredible creativity with his choreography on screen and we know you will enjoy watching every one.

‘Dhoom Again’ – Dhoom 2

The huge success of Dhoom 2 helped to solidify Hrithik Roshan’s career and no doubt his remarkable dance performance in the opening song ‘Dhoom Again’ showed him at his finest. Shiamak was of course responsible for the jaw-dropping choreography that can be seen throughout the song. It’s bold, edgy and something which we have never really seen in Bollywood before. Kudos to Shiamak on giving the song a big ‘dhoom!’

26 February 2014 10:45 PM, PST | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

In celebration of Lord Shiva’s Maha Shivratri, one of the most prominent festivals of the Hindu calendar, we bring you some of our favourite Lord Shiva related Bollywood songs.

As we explore a few of the different shades that Bollywood has celebrated Lord Shiva through, we take you on a very quick journey beginning in 1950, with the song “Bhole nath se nirala” to end with Koyla’s (1997) mischievous “Bhang Ke Nashe Mein”.

Known by at least 1008 different names, including “Kailas” (One who bestows Peace), “Shambu” (Source of everything) and “Hari” (Sustainer and Destroyer), Lord Shiva is said to have married Parvarti on Maha Shivratri. Other readings of Hinduism state that Maha Shivratri is the night on which Shiva performed “Tandava” – the dance that led to the creation, conservation and destruction of the Universe.

Maha Shivratri is also known as Lord Shiva’s favourite day.

Will the 'pardesi' return to Indian cinema? (Jan 9 is Pravasi Bharatiya Divas)

7 January 2014 9:43 PM, PST | | See recent RealBollywood news »

New Delhi, Jan 8: Time was when Bollywood films revolving round 'pardesi' heroes, heroines or families ruled the roost. But such subjects have been elbowed out by desi movies with desi heroes of late, but industry experts say the trend will return.

If you remember, in the 1970s Manoj Kumar's "Purab Aur Pachhim" portrayed the dilemma of NRIs and it turned out to be a blockbuster.

Thereafter, in the 1990s, both viewers at home and Indians living abroad related to the Nri theme and characters shown in several Hindi films.

Be it Amrish Puri's character in "Pardes" or Shah Rukh Khan's in "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" -. »
