Altered Carbon Review: Sci-Fi Drama Is Visually Stunning, Unevenly Paced

When technology advances to the point that death is more a minor inconvenience and less a consciousness-ending blow, humans will have the theoretical ability to live forever. But Altered Carbon, Netflix’s optically impressive yet frustratingly off-balance new drama, makes a convincing argument that we probably shouldn’t.

The sci-fi series, which begins streaming its entire first season on Friday, Feb. 2, is based on Richard K. Morgan’s 2002 novel of the same name and takes place in a far-flung future in which the totality of a person’s existence — thoughts, memories, joys, sorrows, etc. — is stored in a disc-shaped “stack” implanted in the spinal column.

Exclusive ‘Hap and Leonard’ Season 3 Images Unveil a First Look at the New Chapter

It's time to strap in, Hap and Leonard fans. The third season, based off of Joe R. Lansdale's novel Two-Bear Mambo, may be one of the (unexpectedly) most timely on 2018. I say unexpectedly because the story (written in 1995) deals with our two heroes (played by James Purefoy and Michael K. Williams) squaring off against a nasty, Klan-like organization. Who would have thought that would be relevant in 2018? And yet, here we are. The new season will also see a host of sure to be memorable new characters, played by Louis Gossett Jr. (Roots), …

Awesome New Trailer For Netflix's Cyberpunk Noir Thriller Altered Carbon

Netflix has released a new trailer for their new film Altered Carbon and it's packed full of awesome new footage. It also offers up interesting story details about the cyberpunk sci-fi noir film.

Altered Carbon is based on Richard K. Morgan’s 2002 novel, which is set 500 years in the future, and as you'll see, the film is visually stunning. It has a very Blade Runner kind of feel to it that I think fans will appreciate.

The trailer focuses on the story of the main character, Takeshi Kovacs (Will Yun Lee), a Japanese-American man whose consciousness is transferred into the body of a white man (Joel Kinnaman) hundreds of years in the future and brought back to solve the murder of a wealthy mogul.

Here's the full description of the story:

When human consciousness can be stored on digital implants (called “stacks”) which allow the mega-rich to continually upgrade their

Altered Carbon is the latest big-budget series to come from Netflix.

They explain, in detail, about what goes into transporting consciousness from one vessel to another.

The official logline for the series describes Altered Carbon as “ an intriguing story of murder, love, sex, and betrayal, set more than 300 years in the future. Society has been transformed by new technology: consciousness can be digitized; human bodies are
