Maggie Furlong: Tweeting TV: How Twitter Has Changed The Business Of Television

18 May 2012 8:23 AM, PDT | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

The TV networks officially announced their new programming slates for 2012-2013 at Upfronts in New York City this week. By the time they rolled their first look footage for advertisers and critics, the new series already had dedicated Twitter accounts set up, ready to interact with the shows' first fans.

Social media has become such a huge part of the TV landscape that any network not securing a simple, memorable handle for their new shows is way behind. (Also, any network that lets a show title like "How to Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life)" get approved is obviously not in the business of listening to their social media team. Good luck with that one, ABC!)

Check out the first looks at new shows from:

NBC | ABC | Fox | CBS | The CW

16 May 2012 1:22 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Finally, a blockbuster that stands a shot at dethroning "The Avengers" (not that we're necessarily rooting for such an outcome) sails into the scene this weekend: "Battleship," the action flick starring Taylor Kitsch! Loosely Based on the board game of the same name, "Battleship" has already been invading theaters globally for weeks, but it's now ready to make its domestic debut this coming weekend. One of our regular Watch It contributors checked the movie out this week, and loved what they saw.

Get more on "Battleship" and everything else we've been watching lately — yes, as the headline implies, you'll get some Ryan Gosling action today — in today's Watch It!

Joel Hanek, MTV Movies producer:

You either love it or hate it, but "Drive," my favorite movie of 2011, is now available for streaming on Netflix. If you haven’t seen it yet, please watch it! Right, we get it, Ryan Gosling »

Survivor: One World Ep. 24.15, Reunion: Chaos reigns during one of the show’s stranger reunions

15 May 2012 12:30 PM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

Survivor: One World Review, Season 24, Episode 15, Reunion

Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS

Although they tend to focus on a few contestants, Survivor reunions always include standout moments that make them worth the extra hour. This year’s has more than its share of highlights, with many coming from Jeff Probst himself. He asks questions to the wrong people, interviews random audience members, and seems more flustered than usual. That said, he’s also having a great time and keeps the mood light. The kinder tone of the final Tribal Council sticks around for the reunion, with even Colton and Alicia not coming off terribly. She gives a heartfelt apology that feels genuine and shows that at least she realizes her conduct was troublesome. The one exception to the love fest is Troyzan, who compares himself to Richard Hatch and still won’t admit he got played. Sporting ridiculous dyed black hair, »

Survivor: One World Ep. 24.14, “Perception is Not Always Reality”: A surprisingly friendly jury rewards the legitimate winner

15 May 2012 8:05 AM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

Survivor: One World Review, Season 24, Episode 14,

“Perception is Not Always Reality”

Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS

There have been only a few cases where the Survivor winner has been telegraphed so far in advance. A recent example was Boston Rob’s roll through the Redemption Island season, but his edge as a four-time returning player made it easier. Kim has played front and center since the merge and put a huge target on her back. She’s walked the line between staying loyal to her alliance and removing major challengers. During the two-hour finale, she has several opportunities to take out players who could steal the prize. The surprising part is that she resists that temptation and sticks with Sabrina and Chelsea to face the music. Her confidence in the Final Tribal Council is clear, and the only remaining obstacle is bitterness from the jury.

'Survivor: One World's' Christina Cha and Alicia Rosa talk friendship and setting a good example

14 May 2012 11:08 AM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Christina Cha and Alicia Rosa took fourth and fifth place, respectively on "Survivor: One World" and while they may have started out pretty rough on the show, in their exit interview with Zap2it, the friendship was palpable.

Congratulations on the all-female Final 5. That was awesome.

Alicia: "I loved that throughout all the hot mess we had in the beginning and even at one point when Troy was trying to waver us from that plan, it just, to me, I just love the message and what came across. If we all stick together and we all just trust each other and work together, we can do something amazing."

Was "Survivor" everything you hoped it would be?

Christina: "Oh, absolutely. I never expected the turnout, of course. In my perfect world, how I would play it, it would be different. Who I was in the beginning of the game »

'Survivor' finale lowest-rated ever

14 May 2012 10:26 AM, PDT | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Colton may have seemed like an awful human being, but he was right about one thing: Survivor did get dull after he left the show.

The Survivor: One World finale (10.2 million viewers, 2.8 adults 18-49 rating) was down a steep 30 percent from last spring’s closer to rank as the show’s lowest-rated finale ever (but, hey, at least the right person won). The reunion show (8.1 million, 2.4) was also the lowest-rated ever.

But hey, here’s some good news in the ratings! ABC’s Once Upon a Time’s (9.4 million, 3.2) first season finale was up 7 percent this week. Congrats to ABC »

'Survivor: One World': Winner Kim Spradlin reveals how she did it, her worst move, and what happened to that hidden immunity idol

14 May 2012 7:29 AM, PDT | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Eighteen players vied for the million dollars on Survivor: One World this season, but in truth, 17 of them never really stood a chance. 29-year-old bridal shop owner Kim Spradlin turned Samoa into her own personal domination station, and in the end, the jury said “I do” when voting to give her the victory. (Only bitter Troy and confused Leif opted to vote for runner-up Sabrina instead.) Now $1,100,000 richer after winning both the game and the fan favorite vote, Kim took a few minutes out from her sleepless morning to dissect her own game and reveal whether she would consider doing it all over again. »

The 29-year-old bridal shop owner from San Anotnio, TX won the CBS reality competition show and walked away with the grand prize on May 13 -- read on to find out what else she won! Kim Spradlin is one happy lady! The Texas native beat out other contestants on Survivor: One World's season finale like high school teacher Sabrina Thompson, and medical sales rep Chelsea Meissner. Not only did Kim win, she also won the most viewer votes which nabbed her an extra $100K -- this woman made bank! When asked about her win, Kim said: "I strategized until I was blue in the face!" That's clearly true! Let's just say the challegnes were definitely tricky and tough. There was a balance beam, a bunch of puzzle pieces and a cargo net. Then the puzzle will give them the combination to a lock they have to open. Survivor host Jeff Probst »

"Survivor: One World" -- Find Out Who Won!

Los Angeles (AP) -- "Survivor: One World" should have probably just been called "Survivor: Kim's World."Kim Spradlin (center) not only won the CBS reality competition's $1 million grand prize Sunday, the crafty 29-year-old bridal shop owner from San Antonio, Texas, also brought the alliance that she helped form at the game's outset to the final tribal council all while engineering the dismissal of each member of the show's nine-person jury of former players."I strategized until I was blue in the face," said Spradlin. The jury ultimately voted for Spradlin over her allies, 33-year-old high school teacher Sabrina Thompson of New York and 26-year-old medical saleswoman Chelsea Meissner of Charleston, S.C. Spradlin, Meissner and Thompson worked together from the first day of the game, which originally featured two tribes divided by sex living on the same beach in Samoa."We were a mess at the beginning, and »

'Survivor: One World': Jeff Probst breaks down the finale; calls season 'a bit of a letdown'

14 May 2012 4:24 AM, PDT | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Each week, host Jeff Probst answers a few questions about the most recent episode of Survivor: One World.

Entertainment Weekly: Kim really dominated in all three facets of the game — social, strategic, and physical. Where does she stack up when compared to other people that have dominated from start to finish like Tom Westman and Boston Rob?

Jeff Probst: That’s a good question. I actually think Kim is in the top grouping of winners. She was great at the social game. So many faces and great at reading a situation and equally good at stopping a disaster before it starts. »

Survivor One World Winner: Crowned!

13 May 2012 9:56 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Throughout the Survivor finale, the women kept saying to each other “may the best woman win."  Thankfully, she did.

Kim put a bow on the neat little package that was her game this season. She dominated from start to finish and even if you do not believe she has earned her place among the Survivor greats, the way she played this season certainly does. Her win ranks alongside Boston Rob (Survivor: Redemption Island), Brian Heidik (Survivor: Thailand) and Tom Westman (Survivor: Palau).

Consider that throughout the entire game, she was never seriously targeted to be voted out. None of the other people playing with her recognized how much of a threat she was to not only keep advancing, but win the game. She played both sides of two different alliances at two different points in the game and came out of both not only on the winning side, but without a scratch on her. »

'Survivor: One World' reunion: Colton Cumbie gets a shot at redemption and blows it

13 May 2012 9:28 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The "Survivor: One World" reunion special is largely Colton-focused, which is annoying.

The first part of the reunion show is pretty firework-free. Even Leif and Troyzan are not seeming mad that Kim won (they were the two votes for Sabrina). Everyone seems to agree that Kim is a deserving winner. Which is true.

Colton's Shot at Redemption

But then. Colton time. He owns what he said and he says it made him uncomfortable. And he says he saw himself being a very, very mean person. Jeff presses him whether he's the racist bigot we saw on the show. His defense is that he would make out with Shemar Moore faster than any woman. Um, that doesn't make you not a racist dude. Notice how Bill was not laughing at that? Saying any kind of "I have a black friend" type thing does not make you not a racist. »

Interview: Greg 'Tarzan' Smith talks 'Survivor: One World'

His drivers license reads Greg Smith.   His patients call him Dr. Smith.   His "Survivor" nickname was Tarzan.   My recaps called him Muscular Mark Twain.   On "Survivor: One World," Tarzan was often a subject of mockery. He had trouble with names. His vocabulary stumped Jeff Probst. And in one unfortunately incident he was accused of attempting to clear his soiled drawers in the camp water supply.   But was he also the man masterminding all of Colton Cumbie's big moves?    Was he the power behind the throne helping Kim and Chelsea advance their "Survivor" causes?    That's »

Chelsea sure seems like a much bigger threat to win both challenges and jury votes.

Survivor's Kat Edorsson Does Not Mind Being 'The Clown'

Be careful what you wish for. That was the lesson Survivor: One World contestant Kat Edorsson learned when she was blindsided this week. In anticipation of blindsiding tribemate Sabrina Thompson, Edorsson, 22, told host Jeff Probst she found blindsides "exciting" and "funny," but she was not laughing when she was the one sent to the jury instead. Speaking to People Thursday about her "million dollar mistake" during the reward challenge, the timeshare rep from Orlando, Fla., touched upon why she wishes Troy had encouraged another player instead of her, and how she doesn't mind being "the clown."
