Children with Ernst August of Hanover: Alexandra Charlotte Ulrike Maryam Virginia, Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Royal Princess of Great Britain and Ireland (b. 20 July 1999). Alexandra is the only one of Caroline's children to bear a royal title.
When Grace Kelly was scanning the royal houses of Europe for a suitor for Caroline, her favorite candidate became Prince Ernst August of Hanover. Ernst's impeccable breeding, Grace hoped, would be a stabilizing influence on her headstrong daughter. More than two decades and two marriages later, Caroline married him.
Her official royal title is "Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline, The Princess of Hanover, Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Royal Princess of Great Britain and Ireland, and by birth Princess of Monaco".
After the death of her father, Prince Rainier of Monaco, on 6 April, 2005, her new title is "Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline, The Princess of Hanover, Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Royal Princess of Great Britain and Ireland, Marquise of Baux, and by birth Her Serene Highness the Hereditary Princess of Monaco." Along with her youngest daughter, HRH Princess Alexandra, she outranks her father, brother, and sister in the ranking of royalty since HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) ranks above HSH (His/Her Serene Highness).
Her husband Ernst August of Hanover is an uncle of Albert Thilo Ludwig Arndt, Prince of Hanover (b. 1999), Eugenia, Princess of Hanover (b. 2001) and Oscar Julius Heinrich Ferdinand Nick (b. 1996).
Obtained a judgment from the European Court of Human Rights condemning Germany for not respecting her right to a private life, following publications of photographs depicting the Princess in her daily life (24 June 2004).
Due to her engagement for children in danger, she was awarded the UNICEF Children's Champions Award (2006).

Separated from Ernst August summer 2009.
Her son Andrea became father to a boy, Alexandre born in London on 21 March 2013 and a daughter, India born in London on 12 April 2015.
Her daughter Charlotte became mother to a boy, Raphael born in Monaco on 17 December 2013.
Prince Ernst August of Hanover is a cousin of Queen Elizabeth (her 7th great-grandfather, Georg, Kurfürst von Hannover, was crowned George I of Great Britain in 1714). Queen Elizabeth issued a Declaration in Council in 1999, granting Ernst permission to marry Caroline, pursuant to the British Royal Marriages Act 1772. Without the Royal Assent, the marriage would have been void in Britain where Ernst's family owns property, and his lawful descendants remain in succession to both the British crown and the suspended peerages of the Dukedom of Cumberland and Teviotdale, and the Earldom of Armagh. In order for Caroline to retain her claim to the throne of Monaco and to transmit succession rights to future offspring, she and Ernst were obliged to obtain the approval of France, as per the since-defunct Franco-Monegasque Treaty of 1918, and of her father, in his capacity as the sovereign of Monaco.
Had relationship with Guillermo Vilas in early 80s.
Andrea, Charlotte and Pierre were born in Monaco and Alexandra in Vöcklabruck, Austria.
After Stefano Casiraghi's death, Caroline had relationship with actor Vincent Lindon.
Her son, Pierre became father to a son, Stefano in Monaco on 28 February 2017.
