Will & Grace Recap: Christmas Presence

Aw, Will & Grace! You shouldn’t have! Already this year, the revival had given us everything we could have hoped for (its existence) and more (its fabulousness). And on top of that, Tuesday it presented us with “A Gay Olde Christmas,” a holiday episode spiked with just enough optimistic perspective to add a little ho ho ho to our ha ha ha.

Brooding Fan Poster For Deathstroke Makes Room For Jason Todd

Jensen Ackles as Jason Todd?

We can see it. As a matter of fact, we’ve already heard it, as the Supernatural mainstay initially voiced the role for Batman: Under The Red Hood back in 2010. But even now, seven whole years later, DC fans are still calling on Warner Bros. to cast Jensen Ackles in a live-action interpretation of Red Hood.

And though it may never come to be, a DeviantArt user by the name of ‘Wandambatha’ has produced a dark and gloomy poster for Deathstroke, the recently-announced spinoff movie that has Gareth Evans (The Raid) and Joe Manganiello attached to direct and headline, respectively.

If the stars align, Manganiello’s Slade Wilson is primed for a big, big future in the DC Extended Universe, though Justice League‘s middling box office performance will surely have Warner Bros. thinking twice about future instalments in its shared franchise. Either way, this

Rumor: Deathstroke Still Involved In The Batman, But Lex Luthor Will Be Pulling The Strings

Is there another project in Hollywood that has attracted the same number of conflicting reports as The Batman?

Even before Matt Reeves signed on to direct, the mooted DC solo flick was dogged by countless rumors – rumors that have only intensified now that Justice League is out in the wild. The latest concerns Ben Affleck and, specifically, his future in the DC Extended Universe.

Despite going on record time and time again about his commitment to the role, recently there have been some tell-tale signs that Affleck’s time in the cape and cowl is coming to an end, with Reeves said to be eyeing up Jake Gyllenhaal as a potential replacement. If true, it would have massive ramifications for the Dceu, as Gyllenhaal would surely take point for the inevitable Justice League sequel.

But until we have some answers to those questions, Reddit has uncovered a new 4chan leak

Epic Fan Poster Imagines Deathstroke Vs. Red Hood Movie

This week brought with it the news that DC are adding yet another movie onto their slate – Joe Manganiello will be starring as Slade Wilson in a Deathstroke solo film from director Gareth Evans. Since the announcement dropped, people have been working hard to come up with theories about what form the film might take and a new fan-made poster may have just nailed exactly what many would love to see.

From digital artist extraordinaire Boss Logic comes this mock one-sheet for Deathstroke, which imagines Manganiello’s anti-hero doing battle with Red Hood, with Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles “cast” in the role of Batman’s former sidekick, Jason Todd. To show off Ackles’ face, the artist has done away with Red Hood’s distinctive helmet, but it still looks pretty damn awesome.

Check it out in the gallery down below, along with some of Boss Logic’s other recent work,

Kate Micucci, Sam Huntington, Dan Harmon and Taika Waititi set for Corpse Tub

Deadline is reporting that Kate Micucci (The Big Bang Theory), Sam Huntington (Rosewood), Dan Harmon (Rick and Morty) and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) are set to star in director Vivieno Caldinelli (This House Has 22 Minutes) dark comedy Corpse Tub.

The film “follows a young Midwestern couple (Micucci, Huntington) who take a chance on moving to L.A. when they find an apartment with impossibly low rent. It’s soon revealed that the former occupant was an enigmatic cult leader (Taika Waititi) who ended his life in the claw-foot bathtub. Now, a steady stream of his eccentric cult members break into the apartment to kill themselves in the tub in honor of their leader. Unable to afford another move, they soon find themselves inexplicably drawn into the cult, all the while navigating the inquiries of a beleaguered Lapd detective (Harmon) obsessed with selling a screenplay based on his own life.”

In addition to Micucci,

Avengers: Infinity War Standee Resurrects Two Marvel Heroes

The only people who stay dead in comics are Jason Todd and Uncle Ben, as the old saying goes, but what about Yondu and the Ancient One?

Over the weekend, Disney erected the latest standee for Avengers: Infinity War, bringing together a small portion of the film’s gigantic lineup. Upon first glance, everything appeared to be in order, as the likes of Captain America and Doctor Strange were placed alongside Black Widow and Chris Hemsworth’s burly God of Thunder. Peer a little closer, though, and you’ll realize that Infinity War‘s standee also features two Marvel characters from beyond the grave: Yondu of Guardians of the Galaxy fame and the Ancient One, Tilda Swinton’s all-powerful sorcerer.

Is this a major story spoiler hiding in plain sight? Or an innocent PR blunder that’s now beginning to blow out of proportion? We’re inclined to believe it’s the latter,

The 5 DC Comics Storylines That Deserve Standalone Movies

Ben Robins on the 5 DC Comics storylines that deserve standalone movies…

With reports spreading across the DC/Warner Bros. fence this week that we might well be looking at a number of stand-alone movies from the DC Comics world, talk of possible adaptations has been rife once again. Ironically, stepping back momentarily from the Dceu could end up being a major leap forward for the studio, especially since they’ve been playing third fiddle to Marvel and Fox in the superhero arena for almost half a decade by this point.

A Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese-backed Joker origins movie seems to already be on the cards as the spin-off universe’s starting point, and we’re still not entirely sure where David F. Sandberg’s Shazam movie is going to sit within the timeline. Not having to play within the boundaries of the Justice League’s world will certainly

No Deathstroke In The Batman? Put Him In Chris McKay’s Nightwing Then

Another week, another Dceu rumor. This time, fans have lost their minds wondering whether Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke will be appearing in Matt ReevesThe Batman or not. To be fair, Reeves himself probably doesn’t know yet, either, as he’s likely rewriting the script as we speak, so it’s all up in the air at the moment.

While all of us would love to see Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight and Deathstroke go toe to toe in a battle of strength and wits, the lack of Slade Wilson in the Bat’s solo film shouldn’t be too big of a concern right now. After all, there are other loose ends that Reeves will need to tie up, so perhaps it’s best he sees to those first. For example, Jason Todd’s death and how the hell the Joker got that stupid grill and tattoos.

The Memory Of Black Canary Looms In Arrow Season 6 Concept Art

Admittedly, Laurel Lance’s death in season 4 came as a shock to us all and was rightfully met with much displeasure, but, in the time since, you have to admit that her untimely passing has added more gravitas to Oliver Queen’s crusade. Not only that, but his newest recruits have seen her selfless heroism as a source of inspiration. Thus, Arrow rolls on and continues to become a stronger product.

Now, it doesn’t take the more eagle-eyed among you to notice that whenever we spend substantial time in the Arrow Cave waiting for somebody to “suit up” or to “hit the streets to gather intel,” we can see the team’s stylish costumes adorning one of several mannequins until they’re next put to use.

From what we can tell, one of those display cases will get a bit of a makeover in the coming season, probably due to there being a new Black Canary running around in the form of Dinah Drake. Thus, it appears the memory of Laurel will be preserved via something resembling what Batman used to honor the second Robin, Jason Todd.

Here’s the concept art that executive producer and co-showrunner Marc Guggenheim teased us with on Twitter:

Remembering the cliffhanger we were left on, in addition to recently hearing that death may not be the only consequence brought forth by season 5’s finale, we’re left wondering just what’ll make life for the surviving members of Team Arrow difficult for the foreseeable future. Still, everything points toward all things Canary being vital cogs in the machine, especially with Black Siren playing a key role going forward.

Arrow returns for its sixth season on Thursday, October 12 on The CW. Will you be tuning in? Let us know in the usual place below!

The Series With the Best Queer Representation on TV Right Now — IndieWire Critics Survey

The Series With the Best Queer Representation on TV Right Now — IndieWire Critics Survey
Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)

This week’s question: Which TV series has the best Lgbtq representation?

Alan Sepinwall (@sepinwall)

Lgbtq representation still has a long way to go on TV, but it’s better than at any other point in my lifetime, whether in shows specifically about those issues (“Transparent”) or simply featuring well-rounded characters who happen to be queer (Captain Holt on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”).

I could pick plenty of shows here as the one with the best representation, but the obvious choice to me (and not just because of when this question was timed to) is the one with the most representation: “Orange Is the New Black.”

One of the big problems with

Wonder Woman Crushes with $100.5M Box Office Win

Wonder Woman Crushes with $100.5M Box Office Win
Heading into its opening weekend, the Wonder Woman box office tracking was inconsistent, at best. Most box office analysts had predicted an opening weekend debut between $65 million and $80 million, although some predicting a debut as high as $105 million. As it turns out, the latter estimate was more accurate, with Wonder Woman easily taking the top spot with $100.5 million. This tally breaks a box office record held by Sam Taylor-Johnson's Fifty Shades of Grey, as the highest opening weekend for a movie directed by a female director ($85.1 million).

There has been a huge wave of buzz building after the Wonder Woman early reactions started rolling in after the first press screening last month, with the movie scoring an impressive 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Box Office Mojo reports that Wonder Woman opened in 4,165 theaters, pulling in an impressive $24,131 per-screen average. The superhero adventure has also taken in an additional $122.5 million internationally

Can Wonder Woman Save the Sinking Summer Box Office?

Can Wonder Woman Save the Sinking Summer Box Office?
Many times, movies that open in the first weekend of June, following the Memorial Day weekend, take a big hit, since the winner of the Holiday usually repeats in its second weekend. That definitely won't be the case heading into this weekend, with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Baywatch both underperforming. Audiences' lack of interest in this sequel and TV show adaptation resulted in the worst Memorial Day box office weekend since 1999. That puts even more pressure on Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman to not only revitalize their Dceu franchise, but also kick start the summer box office as a whole. We're predicting that it should have no trouble beating both Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and fellow newcomer Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie to take the top spot with a projected $94.6 million.

This projection is ultimately higher than most of the Wonder Woman box office projections,

Batman’s Past Comes Back To Haunt Him In The Victim Syndicate

Batman - Detective Comics Vol. 2: The Victim Syndicate Gallery 1 of 10

More From The Web Click to zoom

Whether it be in film, animation, comics or gaming, one recurring theme in superhero stories that never seems to die is that of those who don stylized costumes and selflessly defend everyday citizens often get the feeling that they’ve failed to protect everyone. This especially holds true for Batman, who has had to live with the guilt of Jason Todd’s death, the paralysis of Barbara Gordon and other various tragic events.

So, if weighty, contemplative stories starring the Dark Knight are your thing, well, then you should probably give the latest volume of Detective Comics a closer look. In The Victim Syndicate, Batman and his troops – Batwoman, Spoiler, Orphan, Batwing and Clayface – must not only deal with the aforementioned theme, but also those who’ve been caught in the crossfire,
