Fox Searchlight Pictures has debuted the very first look at Anthony Hopkins as the legendary Alfred Hitchcock in Sacha Gervasi’s (Anvil! The Story of Anvil) upcoming biopic. Now we know what Hopkins looks like in Hitch make-up, you can almost hear his voice in your head delivering The Master of Suspense’s immortal dry line, “Good Evening”.
Not that I think Hopkins looks much like Hitchcock mind you. Then again he didn’t look a great deal like Richard Nixon either in Oliver Stone’s mid 90′s movie but he delivered a compelling and fiery performance that sure felt like Nixon.
Filming began this week on the movie which is now simply going by the title ‘Hitchcock’ and no longer ‘Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho’, the name of the Stephen Rebello book upon which it is based. A wise choice, I’d say.

The first image of Sir Anthony Hopkins as the legendary Master of Suspense himself, Alfred Hitchcock, has been released. The cinematic makeup sleight-of-hand is all for the newly titled Hitchcock from Fox Searchlight Pictures.

Based on the book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho by Stephen Rebello, the film is a love story about Hitch and his wife/partner Alma Reville, played by Helen Mirren, during the making of the legendary director's seminal film Psycho. The story also tracks the obstacles that the English filmmaker had to overcome to make a "lowly" horror movie that no Hollywood studio wanted to touch. Of course, Psycho went on to become one of Hitchcock's biggest hits and one of the most influential movies of all time.

Anthony Hopkins is nearly unrecognizable as Alfred Hitchcock in the first official photo release from Hitchcock (Previously known as Alfred Hitchock and the Making of Psycho).
Principle photography started last week and the story is based off of a book that details the struggles Alfred Hitchcock faced creating Psycho. The official synopsis describes the film as a love story that takes place during the making of the movie: “Hitchcock is a love story about one of the most influential filmmakers of the last century, Alfred Hitchcock and his wife and partner Alma Reville. The film takes place during the making of Hitchcock’s seminal movie Psycho.”
Helen Mirren is playing Hitchcock’s wife and the rest of the cast includes: Scarlett Johansson (Lost In Translation) as Janet Leigh, James D’Arcy (Master And Commander: The Far Side Of The World) as Anthony Perkins, Jessica Biel (The Illusionist ) as Vera Miles, »

We all love The Karate Kid. No, not the ridiculously long remake that featured Kung-Fu instead of Karate despite its name, we're talking the original, man! Why are we talking about that? Because some interesting Hitchcock casting news has just broken.
According to Deadline, Daniel-san himself, Ralph Macchio, has signed on to Hitchcock. Macchio will play Psycho screenwriter Joe Stefano. Anthony Hopkins plays Hitchcock, Helen Mirren plays Alma Reville, Scarlett Johansson plays Janet Leigh, and Jessica Biehl plays Vera Miles.

Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of ‘Psycho’, the story of how Hollywood’s legendary master of suspense made one of the seminal horror films of all time, has begun production, according to a new announcement from Fox Searchlight Pictures and Montecito Pictures.
The film — starring Sir Anthony Hopkins and Dame Helen Mirren — also has a new, one word title. It will simply be called Hitchcock. If you hadn’t noticed already, Hollywood has a current preference for one-word titles. This one happens to work for us.
The film will be directed by first-time helmer, Sacha Gervasi. Production will begin in Los Angeles on Friday.
Gervasi co-wrote Steven Spielberg’s 2004 film The Terminal and also won the Best Documentary award at the 2010 Independent Spirit Awards for Anvil! The Story of Anvil.

I’ve always thought that, purely as a title, Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho simply lacks brevity. You know what you’re getting with the film — the story of how Alfred Hitchcock made Psycho and, more than likely, how it affected his own life — but that doesn’t mean Scorsese should have made His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and the Hard Times in Tibet, either.
So it’s a smart move on Fox Searchlight’s part to have shortened the name down to Hitchcock, one that gets something across and, at the same time, doesn’t take up so much marquee space. More interesting, though, is the apparent shift in narrative content. The film’s source material, a book of the same name by Stephen Rebello, is often cited as one of the definitive accounts of Psycho‘s production — but, with a change in title, we now »

Sacha Gervasi's Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho has picked up a new title, and begun principal photography. The film will now simply be entitled "Hitchock", which is probably better since the previous title sounds more fitting for a documentary. Hitchcock is being billed as a love story between the legendary director (played by Anthony Hopkings) and his wife and partner Alma Reville (Helen Mirren). The movie also stars Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, Toni Collette, Danny Huston, Michael Stuhlbarg, Kurtwood Smith, Wallace Langham, Richard Portnow, and Michael Wincott. For Richard Portnow, who played Dan “The Man” Levitan in “Good Morning, Vietnam”, watching the film is a bit like going back in time. “It’s interesting watching a film that was made 25 years ago, you look like a kid,” he said. “We were filming in Bangkok for three months. I watch certain scenes and remember when that happened, and there’s other stuff that I don’t remember–in one scene, there’s a little dance that I do, and I don’t remember doing that.” Portnow, like Juney Smith, knew that “Good Morning, Vietnam” would be a great film, but the longevity came as a surprise. “I thought it was going to be »
