Michele Placido was born on May 19, 1946 in Ascoli Satriano, Puglia, Italy. He is an actor and director, known for The Unknown Woman (2006), Lamerica (1994) and The Caiman (2006). He has been married to Federica Vincenti since August 14, 2012. They have one child. He was previously married to Simonetta Stefanelli and Ilaria Lezzi.

Brother of Gerardo Amato and Donato Placido.
Has five children: Violante Placido (b.1976), Michelangelo Placido (b.1990) and Brenno Placido (b.1991) with Simonetta Stefanelli; Inigo Placido (b.1988) with Virginie Alexandre, and Gabriele (b. 2006) with Federica Vincenti.
Made his stage debut in 1969.
