Awards

  • Sony Radio Academy Awards , Best Drama (Writer, Director and Actor), 2012
Winner: Gold for 'On it'. What the judges said: "This drama was a gripping listen from the start, full of determination, hope, empathy and love. It was both heart-breaking and unsettling with unexpected turns of events which stopped you in your tracks. The judges were united in the thought that the production would not have worked as well in any medium other than radio – radio was its natural home – and we agreed that the production was unequivocally deserving of the Gold this year; in fact, it has 'Gold' written all over it! "
  • BBC Audio Drama Awards, Best Audio Drama (Single Play), (Writer, Director, Actor), 2013
'On it' produced by Sally Harrison, Woolyback Productions for BBC Radio 4 is based on a heartbreaking true story. Jane Anderson (Radio Editor, Radio Times)on the judging panel said of the play, “All the judges listened to it separately and when we came together it was a unanimous decision that it was the winner. Despite it being so sad, it's so moving and so well written, almost poetic, that anyone can readily identify with it – even the sort of audience that would probably never have that experience.”
