Holly birthday, Happyoaks! Sorry, let's try that again. Happy birthday, Hollyoaks! That's better.

It's often written off as the runt of the soap litter, but we're rather affectionate towards Hollyoaks. Surprisingly, it's not only survived but is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary this autumn. Launching on Channel 4 in October 1995 with just one episode per week, Hollyoaks gradually earned a place in viewers' hearts as it followed the tangled lives and torrid loves of Kurt, Jambo, Louise, Maddie, Natasha, Dawn and Tony. So where are Chester's magnificent seven now?

Jeremy Edwards (Kurt)

Ex-model Jeremy Edwards' character Kurt Benson was Hollyoaks' original king of cool, known for his love of his motorbikes, music and the local ladies. Kurt eventually settled

Jeremy Edwards: Hollyoaks Later role 'wasn't greatest stretch'

Jeremy Edwards admits his recent stint on 'Hollyoaks Later' didn't ''stretch'' him much as an actor. The 42-year-old star reprised his role as Kurt Benson - who was killed in a jet ski accident on 'Hollyoaks' - for the Channel 4 soap's spin-off show, and while he loved revisiting his character, who appeared as a figment of Tony Hutchinson's (Nick Pickard) imagination, he didn't feel that challenged by the part. He said: ''For me I'm very static. I'm very straight and sort of cool. I just speak very clearly and very slowly and give advice. It wasn't the greatest stretch

Langford On Soaps: Aidan Gets The Axe On "Neighbours"

Langford’S Picks And Pans

River City

I’ve had my doubts about Will and Robbie’s relationship since the very beginning. They always seemed ill-suited for one another and I never felt they had much spark. And well, there are the incidents of domestic violence between the couple that put me against any future between them.

But this past week, with Will and Robbie getting married, I decided to put my doubts and previous impressions aside, at least for this episode and try and enjoy the story as presented in this particular episode. I found that it was a well-crafted piece of drama, well done in both writing and acting, though I do have a few issues.

I thought it was ridiculous that rather than tell Will about Edwards’ attempts to bribe him, Robbie gets stinking drunk. Clearly this only made the situation worse. Will had no idea what

Tasmanian 'culinary genius' crowned winner ending a season that has delivered more than three million viewers tuning in

Ash Mair has been named winner of Masterchef: The Professionals, ending a season that has delivered the show's best ever ratings, with more than three million viewers regularly tuning in.

After Celebrity Masterchef was dumped back into the daytime schedules this autumn, it might have seemed that the fans' love affair with the TV cookery competition was souring. The former primetime BBC1 stalwart, in which Kirsty Wark, Phil Vickery and Nick Pickard competed for the Celebrity Masterchef title, was downgraded to weekday afternoons.

Mair, 34, who comes from from Tasmania, was crowned winner over Steve Barringer, 25, and Claire Hutchings,
