Lauren Peterson is a classically trained actress, dancer and yogi. In NYC Lauren studied acting with Uta Hagen, Marthe Schlamme, Word Baker and others at the Herbert Berghof (HB) Studios. She was accepted to the prestigious "School of American Ballet" under the tutelage of George Balanchine. In Los Angeles, Lauren studied yoga with Chuck Miller, being one of only two students he taught through the fourth series in the very demanding ashtanga system. She taught at the original Yoga Works on Montana Ave in Santa Monica. Lauren is a member of the celebrated Group Rep. Theatre, and enjoys performing both on the stage and screen.

Lauren has been lauded on stage and screen for her portrayals. In 2016, Lauren played three roles, in the stage version on "Hairspray" at the historic Orpheum Theatre. She also danced with the ensemble in the opening number, and danced as "Prudy Pingleton: in the closing number. The other roles were "Spritzer" which is traditionally male, and the "Gym Teacher."

In 2016 Lauren played the role of Annie Clark, in a production of "Calendar Girls" at The Group Rep Theatre. She was singled out, for her performance. Lauren has one son, Andrew Hisashi (Sashi) Peterson.
A celebrated yogi, she has appeared in calendars, books and on magazine covers. She has traveled the world leading workshops and teacher trainings.
Lauren started as a dancer, doing classical ballet and tap. She moved to LA in the 80's, and began working in theatre, film and TV, becoming a member of SAG in 1984. For a time, she moved to Japan, and worked on the "Live from Osaka" 11 PM Show. She was one of the 11 PM Show dancers, and landed on the cover of BOOP Magazine.
Lauren took a hiatus from acting, save for TV Commercials, when she had her son Sashi. She immersed herself in yoga practice and teaching. She became known internationally, and modeled for yoga books, magazines and calendars. She has traveled to six continents, for work and play, mostly with Sashi in tow. She has taught at a Buddhist monastery in the mountains of Japan, on a boat full of surfers in Indonesia and has practiced at Sting's villa in Tuscany. She owns a small boutique yoga studio in the Los Feliz area, "The Yoga Salon".
