Just weeks before her death, the Canadian Arts Council honored her for her remarkable stage career in awarding her the Molson Prize. The theater occupied by the Nouvelle Compagnie théâtrale, in which she gave so many performances, was renamed in her honor, along with the Prix du Québec's prize given in honor of a distinguished career in the performing arts, now called the "Prix Denise-Pelletier".
