Movie Review – Kindergarten Cop 2 (2016)

23 May 2016 12:10 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Kindergarten Cop 2, 2016.

Directed by Don Michael Paul.

Starring Dolph Lundgren, Fiona Vroom, Aleks Paunovic, Andre Tricoteux, Bill Bellamy and Sarah Strange.

Synopsis:

Assigned to recover sensitive stolen data, a gruff FBI agent goes undercover as a kindergarten teacher, but the school’s liberal, politically correct environment is more than he bargained for.

“It’s not a tumour!” Right, now that’s out the way, that brings us nicely to the somewhat unexpected sequel to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1990 cult favourite, Kindergarten Cop. The original didn’t particularly pick up rave reviews on its release but it had a good box office return and has endeared itself upon audiences more and more over the years. It’s an Ahnuld film I particularly enjoy, even if it’s never quite sure whether it’s an Arnold film or a family friendly jape. Whatever it is, it’s good fun.

So 2016 has rolled around. »

'Kindergarten Cop 2' Trailer Brings Dolph Lundgren to the Classroom

16 February 2016 9:15 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

It's the sequel no one knew they wanted, but are getting anyway! Yes, action icon and certified genius Dolph Lundgren is back and he's ready to take over the classroom. Kindergarten Cop 2 is coming this summer, and we have your first look at the trailer, courtesy of EW.

Throughout his four decade career, international superstar Dolph Lundgren has never faced a threat quite like this. Forget all those evil mercenaries he's had to square off against over the years. Because these young children just might be his undoing. The The Expendables star is taking over the Arnold Schwarzenegger role in this follow-up to the 1990 smash hit Kindergarten Cop, which helped solidify Arnie's ability to be a comedy lead, and might just do the same for Dolph Lundgren, who's sense of humor has always shined in interviews and on the red carpet.

Watch: Dolph Lundgren Deals With Little Monsters In New Trailer For 'Kindergarten Cop 2'

16 February 2016 7:41 AM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

So, yes, "Kindergarten Cop 2" is real thing, and no, it sadly doesn't star Arnold Schwarzenegger. Instead, another action hero has taken the lead role, with Dolph Lundgren stepping in as the cop who gets his hands full with unruly kids, and you can see the result of this direct-to-video effort with the new trailer for the movie. Auteur Don Michael Paul ("Jarhead 2: Field of Fire," "Tremors 5: Bloodlines") directs this one, which is apparently a sequel, though it seems to be in name only. At any rate, the laughs here come from Lundgren's conservative cop having to go undercover at a "liberal" school. Particularly in an era when DVD sales are pretty much flatlining, I'm not sure why Universal is investing in stuff like this, but I'm guessing the reasons are far from creative. "Kindergarten Cop 2" hits DVD and Digital HD on May 17th, in case you are wildly curious. »
