Shirley Patterson was born on December 26, 1922 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She was an actress, known for It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958), The Land Unknown (1957) and Batman (1943). She was married to Alfred Smith, Jr. She died on April 4, 1995 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.

Was Miss California in the Miss America contest of 1940.
High school graduate of the Mar-Ken School in Sherman Oaks, California.
Blond Canadian-born leading lady, under contract at Columbia (1942-44), MGM (1945-46) and PRC (1946-47). Acted mostly in serials (notably as heroine to the first "Batman"), in Three Stooges comedies and B-westerns. Took a sabbatical from films to raise a family, 1947-53, then re-emerged under the name 'Shawn Smith' as co-star in several cult sci-fi films and TV series. Broke a leg in eight places during a skiing accident at California's Big Bear mountain resort in 1958, which brought about her premature retirement from the film business.
Her father was a druggist in Eastend, Saskatchewan.
