ABC is giving new life to "Super Fun Night," a comedy pilot written by and starring "Bridesmaids" scene-stealer Rebel Wilson.

The show, about three geeky female friends and their quest to liven up their Friday nights, was in contention at CBS last pilot season (and was on Zap2it's list of pilots we hoped to see picked up). The network passed, but ABC took an interest over the summer and has now greenlit a new pilot, Deadline reports.

The show will get a pretty extensive revamping in its new home. It was shot as a multi-camera show at CBS, but the new version will be single-camera. Wilson's friends, played by Jenny Slate and Edi Patterson in the first pilot, will be recast.

"Super Fun Night" also has a new showrunner in "30 Rock" and "Larry Sanders Show" veteran John Riggi. He takes over from Ted Cohen and Andrew Reich ("Friends," "Work It »

‘Super Fun Night’ A Go As Pilot At ABC, John Riggi To Run, 2 Leads To Be Recast

21 September 2012 12:30 PM, PDT | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

Exclusive: Rebel Wilson’s comedy Super Fun Night has formally been greenlighted to pilot at ABC, with 30 Rock veteran John Riggi on board as showrunner. The project, executive produced by Conan O’Brien, was originally developed as a multi-camera sitcom for CBS last season. After it didn’t make the cut, ABC decided to give it another go, this time as a single-camera comedy. Written by and starring Bridesmaids standout Wilson, Super Fun Night follows three nerdy female friends, one played by Wilson, on their “funcomfortable” quest to have “super fun” every Friday night. The other two leads are being recast for the ABC pilot; they were played by Jenny Slate and Edi Patterson in the CBS one. UTA-repped Riggi, who is supervising the writing, succeeds Ted Cohen & Andrew Reich, who had only signed on for the original pilot at CBS. The gig stems from the rich two-year deal Riggi »

TV's pilot season is starting to wind down, but a few final pieces of casting are taking place, including a changeup in Roseanne Barr's NBC comedy and CBS finding the the final lead for its comedy "Super Fun Night."

- Tricia O'Kelley, who played mean mom Marly Eckhardt on "The New Adventures of Old Christine," has joined the cast of "Downwardly Mobile," Barr's comedy pilot set at mobile home park. She replaces Salli Richardson ("Eureka"), who according to Deadline "could not sync up" with the other actors when the pilot had a run-through last week.

She will clash with Barr's character, Rose, who manages the park. O'Kelley's credits also include recurring parts on "Secret Life of the American Teenager" and "Gilmore Girls."

Rebel Wilson’s Super Fun Night Casts Its Final Bff

15 April 2012 6:30 PM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Edi Patterson, of the Groundlings, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Weeds, is joining the recently cast Jenny Slate to round out a trio of BFFs at the center of Rebel Wilson's upcoming CBS comedy Super Fun Night. The Australian Wilson, a memorable scene-stealer ("I thought it was a very sad handwritten book") in the catalogue of memorable scene-stealing that was Bridesmaids, is writing the show, which will feature the ladies challenging themselves to have massively fun Fridays nights week after week. With the casting sorted out, Super Fun Night can move toward trying to top the two-dozen-plus think-pieces HBO's Girls garnered across the media. It's already on Vulture's Ten Most Promising Pilots docket, so that's a strong start, we'll totally not objectively submit. »
