The Rock Sparks A Prison Riot In All-New Fast 8 Set Video

23 July 2016 7:40 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Now firmly past the halfway point in production, Universal’s onslaught of set videos for Fast 8 is beginning to reach its crescendo.

Yes, the tire tracks are still fresh from yesterday’s Fast Friday snippet, where F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and series stalwart Vin Diesel reflected on the filming process and action sequences hitherto. Nipping at the heels of that Bts video is a post from Dwayne Johnson, who looks set to stage the prison riot to end all prison riots.

A shot of Johnson’s Luke Hobbs behind bars was released a few weeks back, indicating that our big friendly giant could find himself in a spot of bother by the time the 2017 sequel checks in. One thing’s for sure: The Iceman cometh, and he don’t fuck around.

I know you guys can see it… I have so much damn Fun playin’ the character of Hobbs. »

Fast 8 Cruises Past Halfway Point In Production As New Set Video Surfaces

22 July 2016 9:29 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Fast Friday is upon us, dear readers, and in keeping up tradition, Universal has rolled out the latest set video for its barnstorming action sequel, Fast 8.

Teasing vehicular mayhem and a family reunion, this week’s vignette marks a milestone for F. Gary Gray and his crew, as Fast 8 is now officially past the halfway point in production ahead of its arrival in April of next year. And what better way to celebrate than offer up a sizzle reel packed to the rafters with death-defying stunts and explosions?

Action set-pieces aside, it’s fair to say that the stars have aligned for Fast 8. Not only is Gray coming off the back of the overly successful Straight Outta Compton, but Universal’s Fast and Furious franchise reached all new heights with the launch of Furious 7 in 2015, comfortably landing the series among Hollywood’s billion-dollar blockbusters. Dwayne Johnson Brings The Cavalry In Latest Fast 8 Snap

20 July 2016 8:55 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson prepares to bring the cavalry (spoilers: he is the cavalry) in the latest snap for Universal’s action sequel, Fast 8.

Continuing to shine the spotlight on his enigmatic man mountain, Luke Hobbs, Johnson took to Instagram to share the all-new action shot of his hulking ally walking away from an overturned car largely unscathed.

Given that F. Gary Gray’s 2017 sequel stands as Johnson’s fourth appearance in the Fast and Furious franchise, the actor himself has spoke at length about his desire to shake up the formula, and a shot of Luke Hobbs behind bars recently flamed rumors that Dwayne Johnson’s towering hero could potentially go rogue.

Whatever the outcome, switching gears to Gray’s Instagram feed and the filmmaker’s latest post offers a behind-the-scenes peek at Dwayne Johnson preparing to film an action sequence. The Iceman cometh, indeed.

Fast 8 Set Video Parades The Supercars Of F. Gary Gray’s Action Sequel

15 July 2016 2:02 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Nothing says Friday quite like a behind-the-scenes video for F. Gary Gray’s action sequel, Fast 8.

In the latest episode of Universal’s long-running series, the Straight Outta Compton filmmaker introduces viewers to the movie’s vast archive of supercars, from bleeding-edge Bugattis to an armored assault vehicle. It’s enough to make any petrolhead go weak at the knees, and it’ll be fascinating to see the eye-watering action sequences that Gray and Co. have dreamt up using their reserve of high-tech automobiles.

From Cuba to Iceland to a grand finale in New York City, Fast 8 will retain the franchise’s knack for a globetrotting adventure, while the promise of a more gruff, back-to-basics role for Luke Hobbs ought to keep fans of Dwayne Johnson intrigued.

Speaking of upholding tradition, Johnson is part of an all-star cast that includes Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, »

Dwayne Johnson Teases Fast & Furious 8 Look

29 May 2016 9:47 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Dwayne Johnson is one of the more social media-savvy stars out there, and as the actor prepares to delve into filming on Fast & Furious 8 (which has been underway for some time now, under the watchful eye of Straight Outta Compton helmer F. Gary Gray), he’s teasing the gritty new look his breakout character, agent Luke Hobbs.

Hobbs, who was first introduced as an adversary in Fast Five before becoming an ally of Dom Toretto’s “family” of racing junkies in Fast & Furious 6 and Furious 7, doesn’t appear to be in great shape for this upcoming outing. Previous installments have shown audiences that he has a daughter, for whom he cares for immensely, and a love interest in Elsa Pataky’s Elena Neves, so there are certainly a few pieces in play that could send Hobbs down a dark and dangerous path.

"Fast and Furious 8" has revved its engine.

The upcoming movie from the blockbuster franchise is currently filming in Cuba, and judging by a video from the first day on set, the cast is already having a blast. In the behind-the-scenes video, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, and others appear to be filming some sort of conference room scene. Kurt Russell and new cast member Scott Eastwood are also present.

There's no sign of Charlize Theron, but the Oscar-winning actress is playing the main villain in "Fast 8." And this scene looks like a meeting for the good guys to hash out a plan.

F. Gary Gray is directing the latest installment, which takes Dom's crew to New York for the first time. Filming is also taking place in Atlanta, Cleveland, and Iceland, and possibly Russia. "Fast 8" sees the return of previous stars Eva Mendes, Elsa Pataky, and Nathalie Emmanuel. »

Diesel Wants Justin Lin Back For "Fast 10"

19 May 2016 9:13 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Though Rob Cohen started the franchise with the first film and various helmers have handled the numerous entries over the years, no filmmaker is more synonymous with the "Fast and Furious" franchise than Justin Lin.

Having helmed the third through sixth of the films, including the critically acclaimed apex of the series in "Fast Five," Lin sat both the seventh and currently in production eighth film of the series out to work on other projects.

Universal Pictures has already announced plans for a ninth and tenth film in the series to be released in 2019 and 2021 respectively, with that tenth film is set to serve as the finale for the main story of the franchise and likely Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto character. Spinoffs and prequels are planned, but 'Fast 10' is the effective being seen as the "end" of the main thrust of the series.
