[[tmz:video id="0_9589e9hs"]] Ray Parker Jr. wrote one of the most iconic movie themes ever for the original 'Ghostbusters' movies ... but, ironically, his phone isn't ringing at all for the new all chick version. We got Ray outside Mr Chow in Bev Hills where he filled us in on what he obviously considers a diss, and he says it even goes beyond working on the film. In short, Ray says he's getting No respect. Ghostbusters Gets A Much Better Fan Cut Trailer

7 March 2016 6:24 AM, PST | | See recent TheMovieBit news »

The first trailer for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot finally came our way last week, and it was met with a whole lot of ‘meh’ (only if we’re being kind). The biggest criticism laid against it was that just wasn’t that funny, burying a lot of the gags and rehashing jokes we’ve seen and heard countless times before ('that’ll leave a mark'. Really? Really???. And that remix of Ray Parker Jr.’s iconic theme song was just bad. Well, thankfully this fan edit goes a long way to rectifying the problems the original had, cutting out all the fat and putting that classic song back where it should be. »

The 'Ghostbusters' trailer does something I've never seen before

In 2014, I did some work on a book for Insight Editions about Ghostbusters, and I was in charge of interviewing many of the people involved with the making of 1984's biggest hit and the 1989 sequel, as well as the cartoon spin-offs. I had a lot of interesting conversations about the film and did things like spend the day with Ray Parker Jr. at his house in his Ghostbusters room. What was clear when doing the interviews was that there are many versions of Ghostbusters history, and the participants in the first two films all had their own stories, and they all took credit for the same things. It was both revealing and very confusing. It's revealing because it says a lot about the person recounting their version. In some cases, people credited others with a particular moment of inspiration, but mostly, people told versions in which they were the heroes of every moment. »

'Ghostbusters' Fan-Cut Trailer Is Way Better Than the Original Version

4 March 2016 4:30 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The Ghostbusters trailer officially dropped yesterday. And aside from a growing group of blatant misogynists who've hated the idea of an all-female team from the get-go, there were two major problems that most other fans had with this inaugural sneak peek. One? It was too long for a teaser. And Two? It abandoned Ray Parker Jr.'s original theme song. A new fan-cut of the trailer fixes both of these problems. And the result is nothing short of awesome.

Of course, we get that Paul Feig is trying to create something new with the 2016 Ghostbusters, which trades in a bunch of goofy middle-aged men for a slightly younger crew of goofy women. But he does a great disservice to the fan base by abandoning the iconic theme song. Something Star Wars wasn't even bold enough to do in rebooting its series for a new generation. Everyone knows the words. Everyone loves to dance along. »
