Every Friday, Rachel recaps the week’s major TV-related news, announcements and gossip! This week, Carson fills in.
• CBS’s How I Met Your Mother will return for a ninth season, ensuring that the sitcom will definitely overstay its already wavering welcome.
• AMC continues its dismal relationships with showrunners as The Walking Dead’s Glen Mazzara got the boot. This means that the zombie drama will be getting its third showrunner within four seasons — that’s a lot of creative disconnect.
• ABC shelved the rest of Vanessa Williams and Terry O’Quinn’s canceled 666 Park Avenue until summer and is filling in the extra hour on Sunday with new episodes of Happy Endings and Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23. »

"Nashville" has not been on-the-air for several weeks, but the drama isn't going to decrease with the hiatus. The show returns on Wednesday, Jan. 9 with more music, drama and crazy romance. If you want some (spoiler-filled) information about the first episodes, read on.
Check out the official descriptions of the episodes below:
"Be Careful of Stones That You Throw" (airing Wednesday, Jan. 9)
Rayna (Connie Britton) and Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) are locked for their tour. When Rayna suggests taking her girls with her, she finds that Lamar's (Powers Boothe) not above holding her hostage with some long forgotten family secrets. To everyone's surprise Juliette and Sean (Tilky Jones) have eloped, though not everyone is celebrating. Deacon (Charles Esten) reconnects with a former flame, and Avery (Jonathan Jackson) follows the advice of a new music producer that puts more space between him, the band and Scarlett (Clare Bowen). Wyclef Jean will be »
Here comes the bride, freaked outta her mind?
That’s one way Juliette’s poolside proposal to Sean could play out when Nashville returns on Wednesday, Jan. 9 (ABC, 10/9c).
After all, the young country star didn’t spend much time mulling the pros and cons of a lifelong union with the chaste quarterback – but Hayden Panettiere says her character’s impetuous move wasn’t a shocker… at least, not compared to other scripts she’s been handed throughout her career.
“I feel like I’ve been on shows where anything can happen,” says the woman who used to play an indestructible cheerleader. »

Hayden Panettiere shows off her fabulous figure in a new photoshoot for her jewelry line Chain Gang L.A., in which the Nashville star strips down to a black two-piece and poses with pals in a hot tub.

Hayden's eco-friendly necklaces are hand-made by her and a friend, and are composed of clay beads, stones, and turtle and gorilla skull charms. The line is "part-feminine, part-punky," she told InStyle about her hipster jewelry line last year. "We'd really like to start in maybe little boutiques and have it be an underground thing."
No word yet on where or how you can purchase Hayden's designs -- or why she's wearing fake vampire teeth for the photoshoot -- since Hayden's bikini body is clearly the focal point of the sexy ads. »

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — except for TV. During a large part of December, our TV options are as disappointing as coal in a stocking, as several shows hibernate until January.
We here at ScottFeinberg.com don’t want you to be without entertainment as you anxiously await the return of your favorite series (especially with in-laws visiting!), so here are seven hidden gems to check out this winter hiatus:
7. ABC’s Nashville catch-up (Jan. 2 at 10 p.m. Est)
I just had to sneak this one onto the list. Although Nashville isn’t taking the stage again until Jan. 9, ABC is offering fans an opportunity to catch up on all the drama, tunes and steamy romances.

Matt Richenthal: The only acceptable answer is Claire Danes.
Kate Brooks: Emily Vancamp in Revenge. I've always wondered how she doesn't win all of the awards. She's so crazy brilliant as Emily Thorne. She can cry at the drop of a pin… and that Emily Thorne stare will get you every time. So good.
Steve Marsi: Have to second Kate's nomination »

Many of us first fell for Hayden Panettiere when she was the adorable cheerleader who couldn't die on Heroes. That show may have lost its way, but Hayden never did, and is now starring on a new show. That would be Nashville on ABC where she plays a young country superstar who is sort of [...]

With the Emmys behind us, it’s time to focus on the Golden Globes.
The 2013 Golden Globe nominations were announced Thursday to much surprise and some bewilderment, as occurs with most award shows. The ceremony will take place Jan. 13 and will be hosted by the dream team of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
We here at ScottFeinberg.com loved some of the nominations, but we’re still shaking our heads over some people and shows that are missing. Take a look at our thoughts on the Golden Globes below:
Three Nominations I Loved
1. Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama: Connie Britton, ABC’s Nashville (All of the Nashville love, really)
ABC’s Nashville has definitely proven itself to be my favorite new show amid the lackluster new programming this fall. With the incomparable Britton at the helm, »

Hayden Panettiere finds confident men 'sexy'. The 'Nashville' star and NFL player Scotty McKnight recently called time on their relationship and Hayden opened up about what she is looking for in a new man. She told Esquire magazine: 'It does crack me up sometimes when you see these huge, burly, muscular, 'I spend all my time in the gym' kind of dudes and they've got these little Chihuahuas. At the end of the day, it's the confidence in which you walk the little dog that is sexy. Walk it with pride.' Hayden was nominated for a Golden Globe award on Thursday (13.12.12) for her work on 'Nashville'and the actress previously revealed she was left star struck when she attended the »
Megan Fox, Ed Helms and Jessica Alba announced the nominations (yes, yes, I’m talking about the 70 Annual Golden Globes Awards), and I was like – hey, there’s a movie titled Salmon Fishing in the Yemen! Salmon Fishing… Salmon Fishing… Oh, yeah, I remember Blunt and McGregor and their legs in some lake or something like that. But, three nominations for a fisheries expert, wtf? I mean – man, that’s what I call a surprise!
So, it was mostly good. Argo, Django, Pi, Zero, Argo, Django, Pi, Zero… If you ask me, I’m happy to see that Silver Linings Playbook received four nominations, although I guess we’re all confused with that comedy/musical thing part (Cooper is dealing with some serious mental problems, for God’s sake!).

The Golden Globes nominees in the film and television industries have been announced, so you know what that means: It's time for the reactions from all the celebrities who were recognized. We've compiled some of the best responses below, though we're sure that it won't take long for everyone who is on the lengthy list of nominees to give their thanks in one form or another. For now, enjoy!
Jennifer Lawrence: "'Silver Linings Playbook' is such a beautiful film, and David O. Russell wrote and directed an incredible screenplay featuring characters that skew off center, have extreme ups and downs, and are so nuanced. I am grateful to be part of it, and for the opportunity to do this role. And now, to be in a category of other talents - Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Emily Blunt - who have also portrayed independently minded and driven female characters. »
If success and looking good are the best revenge for a split, then we have a strong feeling Hayden Panettiere is basking in breakup bliss. Because fresh off the heels of the Nashville cutie's reported split with her footballer beau, Scotty McKnight, the 23-year-old actress is not only looking smokin' hot in the January 2013 issue of Esquire magazine, but she also she nabbed a Golden Globe nomination for her role on the hit drama Thursday morning. The super fit star poses in a barely-there bikini for the upcoming issue in which she discusses boys, booze and being a TV baddie. Inside the mag, the Heroes hottie reveals she's become a whiskey gal thanks to her new »
Hayden Panettiere might be newly single, but you'd never know it from her new bikini photo shoot for Esquire.
The "Nashville" star and recent Golden Globe nominee cracks jokes in a video posted on the magazine's website, which you can watch below. She also answers a series of personal questions, such as how many dates do you have to have before it's okay to have sex. "You don't even want me to answer that," Panettiere says while laughing.
As for taking on a different, diva of character in "Nashville," Panettiere says, "It's fun. You get permission to be openly nasty and get away with it." Her full spread appears in the January 2013 issue of Esquire.
It may be the dead of winter, but Hayden Panettiere is stripping down to her bikini. The "Nashville" star flaunts her figure in the January 2013 issue of Esquire. We love how the fit actress breaks the mold of the traditional men's magazine bikini model.Hayden's back tattoo is prominent in two of the shots. It reads "vivere senza rimipianti," which translates into "to live without regrets" in Italian. Unfortunately, the tattoo artist added and extra "i" -- "rimpianti" is the correct spelling. Oh well, no regrets!Check out the sexy spread, shot by Ari Michelson, below! The actress is working on her music as well, but does she have a career in comedy? Jessica Alba, Megan Fox, and Ed Helms joined the Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Dr. Aida Takla-o'Reilly at the Beverly Hilton Hotel this morning to announce the nominations for the 2013 Golden Globe Awards.
Golden Globe winner Tina Fey (30 Rock) and Golden Globe nominee Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) will host the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, live on Sunday, January 13, 2013. The show will air live on NBC coast-to-coast from 5-8 p.m (Pt) and 8-11 p.m. (Et) from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
Produced by Dick Clark productions in association with the HFPA, The Golden Globe Awards are viewed in more than 160 countries worldwide and are one of the few awards ceremonies to include both motion picture and television achievements.
The 2013 Golden Globe Nominations are as follows:
Best Motion Picture, Drama
Best Motion Picture, Musical Or Comedy »
Wrap your head around this fact, if you will: "Smash" is nominated in one of the best TV categories for the 2013 Golden Globes, and "Mad Men" is not.
They're not competing against one another -- "Mad Men" is in the drama field, and "Smash" got to compete with comedies because the Globes' comedy categories also contain the words "or musical." Unless, that is, the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association collectively assumed any comedy in the show was intentional.
The Golden Globes always include a few head-scratching nominations and omissions, as might be expected for an awards show based on the whims of 90-some journalists who are throwing a big party. As such, it's hard to muster up as much outrage for the snubs of deserving works and inclusions of dubious ones.
That doesn't mean, however, that it's not worth examining some of this year's most curious Golden Globes decisions:
